Destiny 2 players have a chance to level up quickly and easily in Season of Arrivals thanks to a new bug with the season's Umbral Engrams. It is unknown how long it will be until this gets a patch, so players will want to take advantage of this new leveling cheese before it's gone.

This trick is all about using the Prismatic Recaster, so Destiny 2 players need to have started the season by getting most of the way through the introductory quest in Season of Arrivals that allows them to access the upgrades on the Prismatic Recaster as well as start earning multiple Umbral Engrams.

Once players have access to the Gifts of Light & Dark upgrade section of the Prismatic Recaster, after the mandatory first upgrade, players will want to spend some of their Twisted Energy to unlock the node on the first row called Umbral Mastery I. This upgrade is supposed to make it so that the first three Umbral Engram decrypted each week act like a Powerful Reward, giving players a level jump.

However, it appears that this upgrade is bugged and it is giving out way more than just three Powerful drops per week. In fact, there does not seem to be a limit as to how many times Umbral Engrams can decrypt at a significantly higher Power level. Although it does not work 100% of the time, it does work the majority of the time. When it does work, Umbral Engrams decrypt at four Power levels above the listed power level of the engram.

To take advantage of this apparent bug, players simply need Umbral Engrams and Altered Element. Then go to the Prismatic Recaster and focus Umbral Engrams to be an Armor-Focused Umbral Engram.

It appears that this glitch is not working with any other focus type, so focus the Umbral Engram accordingly for armor and then decrypt it at the Umbral Decoder. When players view the Umbral Engram at the Umbral Decoder, it will show it at an appropriate Power level, but once it is actually decrypted, the armor piece that comes from it has a high chance of being four levels higher than it should be.

Players report that this seems to work best when players focus and decrypt one Armor-Focused Umbral Engram at a time. This method has been proven to be able to take players up to the soft cap of 1050. For those wondering, to get past 1050 to the 1060 hard cap, it requires pinnacle drops from the game's endgame content.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
