Destiny 2's The Witch Queen expansion is about ten days away from being fully released, and alongside it, Bungie will also release a new Season and plenty of sandbox changes. Destiny 2's Season of the Risen will let players wield the seasonal artifact in combat for the first time in the game's history, and while the details surrounding this feature haven't been disclosed yet, it's likely tied to story reasons and Caiatl's Light-suppressing technology. Still, one of the biggest changes coming to the game is that Light subclasses are being reworked into a Stasis-like way that splits existing abilities and perks into Fragments and Aspects.

This rework was labeled Void 3.0, and it focuses more on each class' identity when it comes to gameplay and build combinations. However, Destiny 2's Void 3.0 update reaffirms power imbalance between the classes by making Warlocks hands-down the best add-clearing option of the bunch in high-end content, Titans a fantastic utility and team support options, and Hunters great for mid-difficulty solo play.

Still, Bungie devs explained in a recent podcast that there will be more changes than what meets the eye in Destiny 2's The Witch Queen expansion, especially when it comes to Void subclasses. When revisiting the kit for Nightstalker Hunters, Bungie decided that it was best to move away from the Heart of the Pack buffs provided when using Smoke Bombs near allies, particularly because of the intrinsic bonuses to various stats as part of the Void rework and Fragments. However, this change is a nerf to the team-support abilities of Nightstalkers, and it's even more impactful because of the removal of Combat Provisions.

The problem is that Combat Provisions had an interesting interaction between making allies invisible and regenerating grenade energy, which is something that will change with The Witch Queen, making grenade regeneration available on melee kills. This disrupts the gameplay loop of Omniocolus, the only supportive Exotic that Hunters have in their arsenal. Furthermore, Sentinel Titans are seeing a nerf to their Weapons of Light buff from 35% to 25%, further reinforcing the idea that Warlocks are now overall the superior class in PvE for high-end content.

The nerf to the Titans' Weapons of Light is particularly upsetting because the recent TWAB even pushed Ward of Dawn as a better alternative with the Void 3.0 update, not highlighting the huge nerf it was meant to get. Among the new gear coming with The Witch Queen, Destiny 2 players also pointed out that the Warlock Exotic Secant Filaments could break the Crucible, which doesn't bode well for Hunters and Titans.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
