A Destiny 2 player turned their Titan into Solaire of Astora from the original Dark Souls. Similar builds and homages to the popular character have appeared in the past, even in other games.

The first entry of FromSoftware's acclaimed Dark Souls franchise was released in late 2011, providing gamers with a challenging dark fantasy RPG that featured a diverse cast of characters. Among these NPCs is Solaire of Astora, a warrior who traveled to the game's setting of Lordran to find his own sun. With his unique personality, Solaire has become a well-known figure even outside the Dark Souls community, and one Destiny 2 player has even used the wandering knight as an inspiration for his character's build.

Destiny 2 Player Transforms Their Hunter Into Marvel's Dr. Doom

A clever Destiny 2 player uses the game's selection of armor and shaders to create a new Hunter Guardian look based on the iconic villain Dr. Doom.

User iixVanquishxX showed off their Destiny 2 Titan that was based on Dark Souls' Solaire of Astora in a recent post on the Destiny Fashion subreddit. To achieve the look, iixVanquishxX's Titan used armor pieces that were coated with various Destiny 2 shaders: Long Journeys, Ravensilk, Shattered Sinew, and War Cult Rain. The build featured the Sovereign Helm, Lightkin Gauntlets, Fenrir's Bane Plate, Radiant Breaker Mark, and the Mk. 44 Stand Asides exotic Titan leg armor that was introduced in the second season of Bungie's popular shooter.

Dark Souls Solaire "Praise the Sun!" Origin

Several community members reacted to iixVanquishxX's post by dropping, "Praise the Sun!" in the comments section. This is the name of a Dark Souls gesture that can be obtained by interacting with the Altar of Sunlight located in the game's Undead Parish area. While he never used the line, "Praise the Sun!" has become associated with Solaire, who is considered by many to be one of the most memorable NPCs in the entire Dark Souls series.

There have been many builds in Destiny 2 that were inspired by characters in the Dark Souls franchise. Another Reddit user, vinlash_, made their Destiny 2 Hunter look like Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3. As he utilizes a hyper aggressive fighting style during his three-phase encounter in The Ringed City DLC, Slave Knight Gael’s boss fight in Dark Souls 3 can be among the game’s hardest to overcome.

Aside from Destiny 2, avatars inspired by Dark Souls characters have also appeared in other games, like FromSoftware's Elden Ring. One player of the 2022 RPG made their character look like the Nameless King, another incredibly challenging boss in Dark Souls 3. Found in the Archdragon Peak, the Nameless King is often regarded as one of the hardest optional bosses in the Dark Souls franchise.
