Destiny 2 Lightfall introduces players to the second Darkness infused subclass known as Strand and for Hunters, their new melee ability requires a bit of skill in order to get the most out of it. So far, players seem to be fairly divided over the recent launch of Destiny 2 Lightfall, with many being let down by the narrative and some of the design decisions Bungie leaned into. However, the latest subclass known as Strand seems to be a hit with the player base finding all sorts of interesting ways to use the new grapple ability.

Hunter players seem to be in a unique spot with the Lightfall release as not only is the Silkstrike super dealing massive damage due to a new Destiny 2 bug, but the Threaded Spike melee ability offers a slight bonus for those skilled enough to use it correctly. The melee attack throws out a rope dart that targets and riccochet's between enemies before returning to the player. Those who are able to "catch" the rope dart accurately will be refunded a bit of their melee energy to help it recharge faster.

However, Destiny 2 players have found that the dart can be hard to track at times, especially if there are numerous enemies and a lot of things happening on the screen. Thankfully, players have been offering handy tips to help players make this process easier to nail the timing in a Destiny 2 subReddit thread started by a user named LunchLadyLover. After pressing the melee button to launch the Threaded Spike, players should hold down the button instead of letting it go. When the Spike is within catching distance, the Hunter will automatically grab it, removing the guessing process and ensuring a successful catch each time.

Thankfully, that doesn't appear to be the only method, as others have also offered little known tips for working with the Strand Hunter's Threaded Spike. One user pointed out a small audio cue to remind the player to press the melee button again, while someone else mentioned that the melee icon turns green for half a second when the spike can be caught. A user named MikeBeas mentioned that the spike works similarly to the Solar Titan's melee hammer in that it can get stuck in objects or can be on the ground, letting the player pick it back up by running over to it.

Discovery is a major component during the first few weeks of a new expansion. Lightfall is no different, as fans have been sharing all sorts of new content and tips including one user who found a way to make rocket launchers significantly more useful in Destiny 2. When using Strand with the Thread of Ascent fragment and a launcher that has the Demolitionist perk, it essentially lets players remove their grenade cooldown as well as auto reload the rocket launcher.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
