Destiny 2's Season of the Lost shifted the game's meta from grenade launchers, which were popular in Season of the Splicer due to Breach and Clear, to fusion and linear fusion rifles. As such, one of the best DPS options in Destiny 2 for power weapons is now a linear fusion rifle called Threaded Needle, which players can get in several ways.
How to Get Threaded Needle in Season of the Lost
Thankfully, Season of the Lost introduced a method to get Threaded Needle and other Season of the Chosen weapons quite reliably and with a small investment. All players need is to gather Season 15's currency, called Parallax Trajectory, and a few Umbral Engrams to Decrypt at the HELM's Prismatic Recaster.
Then, after opening the Prismatic Recaster's menu, players should select the Active Season option.
In the first section, called Tier 1 Focusing, Destiny 2 players should hover over the fourth Engram.
Focusing an Umbral Engram into the Tools of the Chosen requires the Engram, of course, and then a total of 5 Legendary Shards and 150 Parallax Trajectory.
Because the loot pool is quite restricted, the chance of getting a Threaded Needle with this method is fairly high.
Plus, there is no weekly limit on this, meaning players can keep on doing it until they run out of Umbral Engrams, Parallax Trajectory, or both.
How to Get Threaded Needle with Past Content
Since there are faster and more efficient methods to get Threaded Needle drops, and because it has multiple perks and possible rolls, players should know what else the Prismatic Recaster has to offer. To do this, players should go back to the main menu and select the Season of the Chosen subscreen.
Here, players have four great options to choose from. The first is called Chosen Implements, and it costs no Hammer Charges, but it provides a random piece of gear - either weapons or armor, that is.
Then, the second option is Tier 1 Chosen Arms, which contains a random weapon from Season 13.
The third option comes from Explosion and Detonation, which grants a random weapon between Code Duello and Threaded Needle, further restricting the loot pool and providing players with a 50% chance to get the linear fusion rifle. However, it costs 3 Hammer Charges.
Lastly, the fourth option is called Chosen Destruction, and it does the same thing as the Tier 2 option, but it makes the weapon also have a perk choice in the last column. This is particularly useful to get that god roll sooner. It costs 5 Hammer Charges.
How to Obtain Hammer Charges and Season 13 Upgrades to Prioritize
Season of the Chosen is still available for players who purchased it, and Battlegrounds still provide a way to farm for Threaded Needle.
Apart from the activity itself, which awards a random piece of gear from S13 when destroying a chest in playlist Battlegrounds with Cabal Gold, players also get Hammer Charges at end of it. Because Hammer Charges are required to focus Tier 2 and 3 Umbral Engrams, players should get two upgrades for the Hammer of Proving as soon as possible.
The first is Challenger Medallion 3, which grants a total of two Hammer Charges at the end of each Battleground.
The second upgrade is called Proving Rune 3, and it allows players to slot a Rune next to the Medallion at the cost of 1 Legendary Shard.
This rune is consumed at the end of each Battleground, but it grants a chance to gain an extra Hammer Charge. This potentially allows for three Hammer Charges per Battleground, so focusing Tier 2 and 3 Engrams is not going to take too long.
Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
