Across the Sol System, players can buy a great variety of goods in Destiny 2. Some of these purchases can see a great advantage in the player’s equipment, with the likes of Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Alloys. However, there exists out there some Destiny 2 vendors that sell items that players should never buy.

Some purchases in Destiny 2 are far too worthless or expensive for their cost in Legendary Shards, Glimmer, and other in-game currencies. Many of these purchases will have players questioning the motifs of characters like Master Rahool and the mysteriously cosmic Starhorse.

8 Rahool’s Ascendant Alloys

Ascendant Alloys are used for Weapon Shaping. With an Ascendant Alloy, players can craft enhanced weapon traits at the Enclave on Mars, including the catalyst for Osteo Striga. However, Ascendant Alloys are vastly expensive, and Master Rahool sells 1 per week for 400 Legendary Shards.

400 Legendary Shards is a hefty price, especially when some players don’t even need the tools necessary to craft a new weapon with enhanced weapon traits. However, if players do want to acquire Ascendant Alloys, then they can look to other sources, like the Lightfall weekly campaign missions at higher difficulties.

7 Starhorse’s Legendary Engrams

For 3 Strange Coins, players will be able to acquire a Legendary Engram from Starhorse the Eternal Equine. There is perhaps no item as worthless as this Legendary Engram. Players might want to use their Strange Coins to purchase this just to get the 4 Legendary Shards from dismantling the piece that drops, but it is entirely a waste of Strange Coins.

Players will want to keep their Strange Coins for Starhorse Bounties and Treasure Keys, as it’s a currency that can only be acquired through Dares of Eternity completions. The Legendary Engram purchasable doesn’t provide rare drops of weapon and armor, nor does it drop past 1800 Power.

6 Rahool’s Enhancement Prisms

Enhancement Prisms are an extremely rare component in Destiny 2 that offers the player a material that can be used to upgrade their gear to the highest level. Enhancement Prisms are essential for endgame content, as they will allow the player to place better armor mods into their gear, as well as Masterwork it. However, Enhancement Prisms are not worth buying from Master Rahool.

Master Rahool will sell one Enhancement Prism for 400 Legendary Shards. That price is outrageously expensive, especially when Enhancement Prisms can be sourced through other means, like the Season Pass, Hero+ Nightfalls, and Master Dungeon/Raids encounters. However, these encounters may require the best FPS players to get through them.

5 Low-Stat Armor From Ada-1

armor purchase from ada-1

Each week, Ada-1 will set a new set of armor for each class in the Tower. Ada-1’s weekly armor may benefit the player in a few ways, as it may be a set that the player does not have, and they might want to claim this set for the Transmog system. However, since Ada-1’s weekly armor is usually a set that returning players already have, the best thing to look for is in the stats.

Ada-1 might sell weekly armor with low stats, meaning that players should just ignore these purchases and await the next week. Each piece of armor can be purchased for around 1,000 Glimmer and 25 Legendary Shards, and players may as well save these materials for a later date.

4 Herealways Piece For Glimmer

glimmer from master rahool

Glimmer is an oddity in Destiny 2. For some players, it may feel like they are the richest Guardian in the Sol System, breaking the bank with a maximum amount of 250,000 Glimmer. However, for some, that number seems to plummet when splashing Glimmer on Masterwork armor, and Masterwork weapons, and purchasing Exotics from the Monument to Lost Light vendor. So, naturally, players are going to want to purchase Glimmer from Master Rahool with materials and Legendary Shards.

There is one material in particular that players should not use to purchase 10,000 Glimmer. Players should not use Herealways Piece materials. This material is obtained through killing enemies on Europa or completing activities. It’s a rare drop that will allow players to purchase quests and items from Variks, so it’s best not to waste them on Glimmer.

3 Banshee-44’s Non-God Roll Weapons

Perhaps Banshee-44’s repeated reboots have finally gotten the better of him, as this old and talented weaponsmith in the Tower can sometimes sell some daily Legendary weapons for 30 Legendary Shards and 7,000 Glimmer that are not worth picking up. Banshee-44’s weapons are dictated for purchase based on if he is selling a God Roll.

It’s rare for Banshee-44 to sell a God Roll or a good roll for a weapon. However, when he does, the weapon has to be good enough to pick up, otherwise it’s a pointless purchase that will just clutter up the player’s inventory or their Vault space.

2 Starhorse’s Glimmer

There’s nothing wrong with purchasing Glimmer from Master Rahool. He can provide players with a great source of the City’s currency. However, there’s one vendor that players should never purchase Glimmer from, and that vendor is Starhorse.

Starhorse can provide players with 1,000 Glimmer for an exchange of 5 Strange Coins. This Eternal Equine is a true scam artist, as 5 Strange Coins is quite a hefty amount just for a measly 1,000 Glimmer that can be acquired basically from any activity in the game, with new friends or alone.

1 Banshee-44’s Upgrade Modules

upgrade module purchase from banshee-44

For 1 Enhancement Core, 10 legendary Shards, and 5,000 Glimmer, players can purchase an Upgrade Module from Banshee-44. Upgrade Modules are great in Destiny 2. They are the only way to effectively improve the Light level of a weapon or a piece of armor that players do not want to dismantle, such as the best Strand weapons. The ability to infuse power with Upgrade Modules makes them an essential piece of equipment for endgame players.

It’s not a bad thing to purchase an Upgrade Module from Banshee-44, but at the same time, players can acquire Upgrade Modules rather easily through other methods, meaning they can save a few in-game currencies. The easiest way to farm Upgrade Modules is by completing encounters in repeatable story missions.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
