Bungie officially revealed the Collector's Edition for Destiny 2's The Final Shape expansion, featuring a highly detailed model of The Tower. The sculpture has several exciting features, and Destiny 2 fans can pre-order it now.

Bungie released the original Destiny in September 2014, with Destiny 2 launching in 2017. As the franchise approaches its tenth anniversary, The Final Shape promises to give players a final confrontation with the Witness, a Darkness-wielding being who serves as Destiny's primary antagonist. The Final Shape won't be the end of Destiny 2 but is expected to tie up many loose ends and series-long storylines. Some also see it as a sign that Bungie is shifting focus away from Destiny 2 in favor of the upcoming Marathon reboot.

Bungie officially revealed the Collector's Edition about an hour into the Destiny 2: The Final Shape livestream showcase. The Collector's Edition contains several items, including an Autograph book, digital soundtrack, Vanguard Mission Dossier, Vanguard Patch, Vanguard Missions Patch, three Vanguard Mentor Figurines, and a code for an exclusive in-game emblem. However, the main event is an Architectural replica of the Destiny 1 version of The Tower featuring lights and sound effects.

The three mentor figures resemble chess pieces but with elements that make them easy to identify as Cayde-6 Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey. Cayde-6 is set to return in The Final Shape, which may add an extra layer to what Bungie's doing with this edition. At one point in the video, it shows Cayde-6's figure placed on the Tower, cast in dramatic lighting from the LEDs on the model. It's unclear if the figures do anything when put on the model, but the video mentions that it features magnetic locks and other secrets.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Collector's Edition

Consumer Products Manager Chris Hausermann and Art Director Shiek Wang also discussed Bungie's intent behind Destiny 2: The Final Shape Collector's Edition. According to Hausermann, his team really wanted to make something that encapsulated the last ten years of Destiny, and The Tower was the best way to do that. Wang expanded on this idea, discussing how The Tower is somewhere that Destiny fans can call home. The original Destiny 1 Tower was destroyed during the Red War, but it remains an iconic part of the franchise.

Fans can pre-order the Destiny 2: The Final Shape Collector's Edition from the Bungie Store. The Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Epic Games versions cost $275. Destiny fans can also pre-order a $175 pack that contains all the physical items without the game code.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape launches on February 27, 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
