The recent news that Bungie will be vaulting the Forsaken campaign and its accompanying locations the Tangled Shore from Destiny 2 has caught fans slightly off guard, but not entirely by surprise. As a result, players have been sharing memes online "mourning" the vaulting of Tangled Shore, often joking about both what else is surviving this upcoming removal process and celebrating the idea of new content coming to replace it.
Altogether, the Tangled Shore itself is an interesting enough location for Destiny 2, though it doesn't much compete when it comes to the content that players are more interested in consistently engaging with. This of course means that many of these memes are more poking fun at the loss of this area rather than actually being mournful or resentful of the loss of much of this years old content.
One specific meme format has taken hold over on Reddit, originally depicting The Flash, or at least the actor who portrays him on CW, Grant Gustin, crouching over rival/mentor character Oliver Queen's grave in a seemingly bragging manner. In reference to the Destiny 2 Forsaken vaulting, some of these memes have replaced the grave with the Tangled Shore and replaced Gustin with several vendors from locations like Nessus and the EDZ. The idea of this being that there are several other locations that fans have expected to see on the chopping block, especially those from the first year of Destiny 2, that have continued to survive the Bungie's vaulting so far.
A broader focus of memes and jokes around the series have also begun floating around since Bungie announced the upcoming changes coming to this section of both the campaign and locations. This has come along with many fans sharing their opinions about the loss of the Tangled Shore in Destiny 2, with many sharing a similarly apathetic response to the loss of an area that doesn't regularly draw attention from players. There are plenty of fans with differing opinions on this vaulting situation, but those making the memes are mostly aligned with the indifference on this area disappearing from the game.
The recent trend of vaulting content in order to bring new and old content to Destiny 2 like the Vault of Glass, as well as future raids and strikes, has had players conflicted since Bungie first announced these changes would be coming. It's a tough situation where no matter what the developer removes, it is likely at least one player's favorite, meaning that there really is no way of making everyone happy with what does and doesn't get vaulted. In the case of the Forsaken campaign in particular, this was a turning point for a lot of players on the second game in the franchise, making the thought of leaving it behind difficult for some and unimportant to others.
