In Destiny 2's Spire of the Watcher dungeon, players will encounter a multitude of Vex enemies in an old Seraph facility on Mars. One of the encounters is a classic boss fight, in which players must first complete a mechanic to activate the damage phase.

After finishing the Spire Ascent encounter, players will arrive at a large arena with a giant Vex harpy devouring a Minotaur in the middle. This is the second encounter of the dungeon in Destiny 2 and will test the team's ability to deal damage, as well as speed when it comes to powering up the same Arc nodes as in the previous encounter.

How To Defeat Akelous, The Siren's Current

Destiny 2 Akelous (1)

As mentioned already, this encounter features a boss fight with a damage phase, so make sure to put on the best DPS loadouts for it. Players who have completed the Garden of Salvation raid will find the boss for this encounter familiar, and the actual damage phase is also nearly identical to that of the Consecrated Mind.

Destiny 2 Arc Node Pillar (1)-1

The arena consists of a central platform, from which four bridges leading up to Arc nodes.

Destiny 2 Central Arc Nodes (1)-1

These nodes are connected to the central platform with the very same yellow wires seen in the previous encounter, and the principle is still very much the same: players must acquire the Arctrician buff, and starting from the center platform power up all four nodes.

Destiny 2 Blue Wire (1)

When the last node is powered, the boss will move to that platform, and the damage phase will begin. Make sure not to activate the last Arc node before all the players are at the same bridge, as missing players means that the team will lack damage and waste time shooting Akelous' eyes, as detailed below.

Destiny 2 Akelous Damage Phase (1)

Akelous will first open all of its wings and eyes, which will glow as red dots. Shoot all these glowing eyes quickly. The boss will float back towards the central platform and become vulnerable after all its eyes are shot. Unlike in Garden of Salvation, players don't need to chase after it and can stand still while dealing damage during this time, as the boss doesn't erect a barrier.

Destiny 2 Akelous Vulnerable (1)

Be careful, however, as at the end of the DPS phase it will push players backward. After the damage phase is over, players will simply need to complete the mechanic again by powering up all four nodes.

Linear fusion rifles are great for this phase since Akelous is retreating from the players and he has an easy critical spot in the middle of his body. Be careful of the abundance of Harpies that will spawn and try to laser down the players during the damage phase. It might be wise to pick out a few of them just to avoid getting sniped from afar. Well of Radiance is a great Super to sustain the damage from ads as well.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
