As we slowly round out another year in the Destiny universe, many questions still remain unanswered. While Bungie plans to support Destiny 2 for the foreseeable future with many years and seasons planned, they still have many loose ends to tie up.

While Destiny 1 may have introduced fan-favorite characters and enemies, players still haven't even come in direct contact with The Darkness. Including this enemy that has yet to be established, Bungie still has many questions left to address. Hopefully, with time Bungie will be able to offer answers to some of the player's most important questions while tieing up loose plot threads.

10 Will The Dreaming City Curse Be Broken?

When Bungie introduced the endgame location, The Dreaming City, players were surprised to find an evolution of the normal patrol zone. For those unaware, this location is on a three-week rotation with each week featuring an increasingly more corrupt curse. At the peak of the corruption, Guardians could visit the Queen Mara-Sov in her throne world. Sadly, however, the storyline has gone cold for about a year now, and players have yet to clear the corruption with no end in sight.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later, Bungie will offer a stellar conclusion to one of Destiny's more story-driven locations.

9 Whatever happened to the Exo Stranger?

Since the beginning of Destiny, players have been wondering about this seemingly important character. During the basic Destiny 1 campaign, Guardians were tasked with finding and snuffing out the Black Garden.

To aid the player in their journey was the Exo Stranger, a robot that knew the true extent of the Black Garden's power. However, upon the conclusion of the campaign, players did not encounter the Exo Stranger again. With the Destiny franchise rounding year 7, it is doubtful players will ever see this character again.

8 Will We Ever Meet Savathûn?

As far as "Big Bads" go in Destiny, very few remain outside of The Darkness. One enemy still yet untouched, however, is the Hive God known as Savathûn. This is the culprit responsible for infecting The Dreaming City with the curse in the first place.

Savathûn is one of the last remaining Hive Gods and sister to Oryx, The Taken King. She's obviously a big player still on the board that has yet to make her move. Whether Bungie will deliver on her introduction is yet to be seen. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer until we find out what's up to her sleave.

7 What Are The Nine's True Motives?

The Destiny franchise is filled with obscure characters, but none outdo the enigmatic group known as The Nine. From Trails of The Nine to cutscenes with the Drifter, with each glimpse into The Nine's true motives, they only become more cryptic.

However, it is clear that this group has a large role to play in Destiny 2. What that role is though is the secret that has yet to be revealed.

6 Who Is Going To Replace The Hunter Vanguard

When Bungie said that they wanted to shift to a darker story, they went all-in by killing fan-favorite character Cayde-6, the charming and witty Exo that served as the Vanguard Hunter. Within the opening minutes of the Forsaken campaign, the Hunter Vanguard position was in need of new leadership.

However, almost two years later now, a worthy successor still hasn't appeared to take on the mantle. It is still unclear whether the role will be filled or left vacant, but one thing is for certain. They will have some big shoes to fill following Cayde-6.

5 Why Are The Traveller and The Darkness Really Fighting?

It's been one of the biggest questions on players' minds since the beginning of the Destiny franchise, and it's one that has yet to be answered until this day. After 7 long years, however, players may finally figure out the answer to this very important question.

With the pyramid ships already entering our solar system, the Traveller and Darkness will soon cross paths again. Soon, players will finally get into encounter first hand if they are ready to face their biggest foe yet.

4 Will We Have To Make a Choice Between Light and Darkness?

Although the Season of the Drifter in Destiny 2 might have focused primarily on the game mode Gambit, one very important story set-up was established in the season as well. Over the past season, interactions with The Drifter alluded to an inevitable split of light and dark between the Guardians.

Since the beginning of Destiny, players have only been able to choose the side of the light. However, it seems siding with The Drifter and possibly the Darkness itself might be an option soon on the table.

3 What is the Darkness?

Even though players have known about the Darkness since the beginning of Destiny, Guardians have yet to encounter the Darkness in-game. So the question remains, what is the Darkness? Hopefully, with time, Bungie will answer this question.

With the pyramid ships fast approaching, it is only a matter of time before players come into contact with the nemesis of the Traveller. After encountering the Darkness in a form similar to the player at the end of the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep campaign, it's anyone's guess as to what secrets lay up the Darkness' sleeve.

2 What Happened to Variks?

Not much communication happens between Guardians and Destiny's enemy factions. The Fallen Vandel known as Variks is the one exception to this rule. Once the Warden of The Prison of Elders, Variks has been notably absent from the game since the beginning of Destiny 2.

Since then, players have come in contact with another "friendly" member of the Fallen known as Spider, but he is far from Variks. It would be nice to know what happened to our old friend and what he has been doing since The Red War campaign.

1 Where's Emperor Calus?

Since the beginning of Destiny 2, one character has been looming in the shadows grooming and enticing Guardians from afar. Emperor Calus, the leader of the Cabel on the Leviathan, has been pulling players' strings since Destiny 2's first raid. After The Season of Opulence, it was clear that Calus's influence over players was not over. It would be nice to know where he has been lurking all this time manipulating us from the shadows.
