Thanks to GuardianCon, tons of new information concerning Destiny 2's forthcoming season 8 and Shadowkeep expansion have been revealed. A glimpse at the new moon environment was shown, as well as new Season of the Undying story details about the main two storylines involved were revealed. Yet perhaps the strangest thing revealed thus far is the new Shadowkeep exotic showcased at GuardianCon.

Revealed as a prop, this new exotic is a heavy machine gun that remains yet unnamed. It's unclear if the Destiny 2 developer just decided to not reveal its name or if it simply hasn't been named yet. Either way, the stand-out feature concerning this new Shadowkeep exotic is that it is seemingly powered by a strange bug preserved in Amber. This unique design lends itself to a few questions.

Reportedly, the Bungie rep wouldn't comment on whether or not the gun fired bees. It also appears that the only time Destiny 2 players could see this design is when re-loading, which really begs the question as to why and what this bug means. Bungie wasn't ready to show its hand anymore either, as this is practically all that is publicly known about the weapon (half of Bungie hadn't even seen the weapon prior to GuardianCon).

It remains to be seen how or when this weapon comes into play, as it could be displayed in a Destiny 2: Shadowkeep trailer beforehand or just slipped into the expansion. It seems likely that this weapon will be the rewards for completing a specific quest, or it could potentially be just another random drop to grind for in Shadowkeep. Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion introduced 13 new exotics, so this weapon is only 1 of at least a handful.

In the meantime, there is still plenty for Destiny 2 players to do prior to the launch of the Shadowkeep expansion. For those currently trying to pick up the new Lumina exotic hand cannon, here's how to complete the Lumina exotic quest fast. It's worth mentioning that, after Rose turns into the Lumina, it can still be retrieved by pulling it from collections.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
