Shaders in Destiny 2 have always provided one of the main methods for armor and weapon customization, and Bungie have recently confirmed that some useful changes will be coming with the game's upcoming Final Shape expansion in the interest of improving shaders' color accuracy in the UI. Regardless, the ability to apply colored shaders to gear has remained a vital aspect of customization throughout the entire Destiny series, as it allows Guardians to fine-tune the appearance of their own armor and weapons. Destiny 2 offers an incredibly long list of unique shaders, and though some of them can be tricky to acquire due to certain vendors selling random selections of shaders each week, others are impossible to obtain in the present day.

In the most recent This Week In Destiny blog post, Destiny 2 developer Bungie revealed that shader icons will be seeing something of an overhaul with The Final Shape expansion's release in June. These tweaks involve a complete rework of shader icons, upgrading them to accommodate the total six different colors that contribute to each shader while also making it more apparent which colors dominate any given shader. Though the overall appearances and colors of every existing shader will remain totally unchanged, the new and improved icons have inspired mixed feelings among Destiny 2 fashion enthusiasts, as the icons for existing shaders will have to be entirely re-learned.
Destiny 2 Fans Should Be Quick to Favorite Their Shaders
Many Destiny 2 fans with a passion for designing outfits typically find themselves scrolling through pages upon pages of shaders to locate the specific one they're after, and will likely spend even more time in shader limbo after this change. That said, a tip that many Guardians might find useful is to favorite their preferred shaders for easy identification. This can be done by hovering over any shader and hitting the shift key, RS, or R3, depending on platform.
Players should be sure to favorite their preferred shaders before the change goes live, though that's assuming players' selections of favorited shaders remain intact after the update. Destiny 2's climactic Final Shape expansion is set to release on June 4, and will see the decade-long Light and Dark saga brought to a close.
