Bungie just revealed that the Destiny 2 Season Pass will be increasing its price. Season Passes for Destiny 2 can be purchased using in-game Silver, currency which can be bought with real money. The Season Pass is not an essential requirement, but the perks it contains provide many gamers with a more robust gaming experience. However, as each season lasts around three months, those looking to buy the passes regularly could be dealing with bigger expenses in the foreseeable future.

While the current Destiny 2 Season Battle Pass could use an overhaul, the rewards it currently has are very essential to those who want to get more value from the game. The extra XP gained by purchasing the pass helps gamers level up faster. Not only that, at the beginning of every week, those who own the pass get a small boost toward Season Pass leveling for a few levels. The value provided by owning the pass may help catapult those wishing to catch up with veteran players.

However, as announced in Bungie's weekly blog, Destiny 2 will update the price of its Season Pass starting with Season 21. From the original 1,000 Silver cost, it will now be worth 1,200 Silver. A second option that gives players an additional +10 levels called the Season Pass + 10 Ranks Bundle will be changing its price from 2,000 Silver to 2,200 Silver. The blog also notes that pricing will remain unchanged for the Lightfall standard edition and the Lightfall + Annual Pass edition. While the price increase could be considered small, Bungie did not say why it was necessary. At the moment, it will still provide the same rewards at an additional price, but many fans could be turned off by this unexpected notion.

Destiny 2 continues to be one of the best games to feature PvE, and being able to play at the higher levels will allow gamers to have a more fleshed-out experience. Those looking to catch up in the game might want to consider purchasing the Season Passes, so they can go to the more difficult areas. The passes allow users to play at higher levels more quickly than normal and also reduce the necessary grind. They also help those who enjoy PvP to match up with better opponents who are on par with their skill set.

As Destiny 2 continues to be one of the best first-person shooters available, the game's life span continues to extend. More seasons are expected, along with more upgrades and stories. As it stands, the Season Pass may be an inevitable purchase for those looking to play the game competitively. Hopefully, the added price can be justified if Bungie can provide more value to the pass in the future. In any case, Destiny 2 is showing no signs of slowing down, and more perks for the Season Pass can be introduced so that it can be easier to justify the price change.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
