Destiny 2’s Season of the Witch will see the Guardians attempting to make contact with Savathun via her ghost, Immaru. The trailer for the season revealed that Eris Morn will turn into a Hive entity to exact vengeance upon those who stole her Light. She will also imbue the Guardians with Hive magic to help them in their crusade against Xivu Arath, who will appear in Destiny 2 for the first time ever. In addition to this, the showcase also detailed two matchmade activities that players will be able to jump into during Season of the Witch.

The official Bungie website explains the Savathun’s Spire activity as “Power the spire, defeat its custodians, and gain access to the Altars of Summoning.” As for the Altars of Summoning activity, it can be accessed by collecting and depositing tithes in the Savathun’s Spire activity for rewards. Along with this, there is also a Deck-building mechanic arriving with Season of the Witch in Destiny 2, which will allow players to use different cards to create unique builds to be used in the new activities.

Season of the Witch will also introduce a reprised raid in the form of Crota’s End in Destiny 2, which is scheduled to release on September 1. The Day 1 Raid Race features for it remain similar to the ones seen with Root of Nightmares, where the Contest Mode will be on for 48 hours. In addition to this, Destiny 2 Season 22 also rejigged several weapon classes in the game while introducing a new Hand Cannon archetype. It also marks the return of some fan-favorite Exotic missions with its new Exotic Mission Rotator.

The Destiny 2 showcase also revealed several interesting details about The Final Shape, where the Guardians will venture into the Traveler to confront the Witness. The expansion will also see Cayde-6 return to Destiny 2, and plans to bring back some classic Destiny 1 weapons as well. Bungie has also confirmed that the Final Shape DLC’s and campaign and raid will provide a fitting conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga, avoiding the storytelling format of Lightfall.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
