Highlights

  • The artifact perks in Season of the Wish in Destiny 2 heavily favor Solar builds, providing powerful abilities and buffs to Solar weapons.
  • Players should prioritize unlocking perks like the "Flint Striker" and "Kindling Trigger" that enhance damage and abilities with Solar weapons.
  • The "Argent Ordnance" perk is a must-have for rocket launcher users, providing increased reload speed and damage when consuming an Armor Charge.

Season of the Wish grants players access to the Queensfoil Censer in Destiny 2, which once again gives the chance to unlock 12 different artifact perks. Although there was heavy speculation based on some of Bungie's previous communications that the artifact would focus mainly on Stasis, some of the strongest perks actually seem to favor Solar builds instead.

Destiny 2: How to Get Lair Keys

Every Season in Destiny 2 follows a similar formula, so players will want to track down some Lair Keys as they do the new content.

While there are some Stasis-themed artifact perks, there doesn't seem to be anything strong enough that would make its way to the ranking of the best artifact perks of Season of the Wish. Moreover, anti-barrier mods have been an overall disappointment, which means players will have to get a bit more strategic when dealing with Barrier Champions. So, guardians who have been eagerly waiting for Solar to truly shine, here's what perks to unlock first from the artifact.

8 From Whence You Came From

Deal Additional Damage To Taken And Scorn Enemies

Destiny 2 From Whence You Came

Starting off at the bottom of the best artifact perks is a simple, general damage boost across the board against Taken and Scorn enemies. Given that the season and its activities will most likely feature quite a few of these enemy types, it's a great pick-up no matter what build or subclass players intend to use throughout Season of the Wish.

Besides, with the upcoming dungeon Warlord's Ruin showcasing a Scorn icon on its in-game badge, it's safe to say that this artifact perk will come in handy quite a bit for those who intend to tackle the brand-new dungeon on its very first day. Overall, there's really no reason not to get this perk, though when it comes to the best, there are still stronger ones available.

7 Unraveling Orbs

Strand Weapons Gain Unraveling Rounds From Orbs Of Power

Destiny 2 Unravelling Orbs

Strand is going to continue being relevant in the final season of the Lightfall era, and this incredible artifact perk makes sure of that. When players pick up Orbs of Power, all of their Strand weapons will automatically gain Unraveling Rounds.

Here's everything you need to know about Upgrade Modules in Destiny 2.

This is handy because it allows players to tweak their Strand builds in a way that ignores Unraveling entirely, and gives a bit more space for other Fragments. Most Strand classes will benefit from this greatly, so players who have been addicted to Destiny 2's newest subclass should absolutely grab this perk this season.

6 Flint Striker

Gain Radiant From Quick Final Blows And Precision Hits With Solar Weapons

Destiny 2 Flint Striker

The first fantastic Solar-oriented perk is Flint Striker, which now allows players to gain the Radiant buff by simply scoring rapid final blows or precision hits using their Solar weapons. Much like the previous Strand perk, this is a handy one to add to a lot of Solar builds because it removes the need to specialize into Radiant through Fragments.

The only caveat here is that players will need to have Solar weapons equipped, but with an abundance of great Solar choices available, this can be easily slotted into most Solar subclass builds out there. Remember, Radiant is basically a free 10% damage boost, and is also intrinsically anti-Barrier, which has some of the worst anti-champion perks this season.

5 Kindling Trigger

While Radiant, Solar Weapons Scorch Unscorched Targets

Destiny 2 Kindling Trigger

Scorch is the bread and butter of any Solar build focused on ad clear. Hence, Kindling Trigger is another powerful artifact perk that lets players substitute some of their Solar Fragments this season by taking the need to focus on Scorch away—for now.

So long as players are Radiant and use Solar weapons, the damage dealt with Scorch any targets that have not yet been Scorched. It will be interesting to see how this works with some of the other Scorch stack modifying effects in the game. It's a solid perk to pick for any Solar build enjoyers and lands somewhere in the middle of the pack when comes to the best perks.

4 Blast Radius

Gain Armor Charge From Quick Grenade Or Rocket Launcher Final Blows

Destiny 2 Blast Radius

Now entering the top tier of the perks, Blast Radius is a perk based on an old mod. Now, players can gain Armor Charge by quickly defeating targets using either grenade launchers or rocket launchers.

With Destiny 2 approaching the end of the Lightfall era, which weapons should players craft as soon as possible?

While rocket launchers are usually not the main ad clear option at high levels of PVE, grenade launchers are absolutely wonderful. Forbearance, when paired with this artifact perk, could be absolutely pivotal for any builds this season that depend on building stacks of Armor Charge quickly. It should absolutely not be underestimated, thanks to the popularity of wave frame grenade launchers.

3 Solo Operative

Deal Higher Damage When Playing Solo

Destiny 2 Solo Operative

Many players enjoy Destiny 2 alone, and with solo completions becoming more and more popular on the PVE side, Solo Operative was a massive favorite when it was first unveiled by Bungie. It grants a significant damage boost against combatants when the player is the only person on their fireteam.

So, for those who have been waiting for a good meta or just the right occasion to complete a solo dungeon run for a Title, now is the time, since Solo Operative has made its return. It's an absolute must-have for any solo gamers out there.

2 Heart Of The Flame

Solar Supers Grant Radiant And Receive Damage Boost Equivalent To Number Of Nearby Allies

Destiny 2 Heart Of The Flame

Solar damage Supers are going to be incredible this season thanks to Heart of the Flame. When players cast their Solar super, allies nearby are granted Radiant (which, as mentioned, is a 10% damage boost). But that's not all—the players using their Super will also receive a damage boost, one stack for each nearby ally.

It remains to be seen how good this perk truly is, but on paper, it sounds very promising—especially for Solar Hunters dying to whip out their Blade Barrage or Golden Gun paired with Celestial Nighthawk.

1 Argent Ordnance

Spend One Armor Charge For Increased Rocket Reload Speed And Damage

Destiny 2 Argent Ordnance

Argent Ordnance was once an excellent mod but now turned into an artifact perk, and it's just as desirable now as it once was. Considering that rocket launchers continue to be a major favorite for many fireteams in boss damage phases, Argent Ordnance will likely be a must-have pick for most players this season.

When shooting a rocket launcher, once Armor Charge is consumed, and rocket launchers gain additional damage and reload speed. When this is paired with other damage-boosting strategies, it's safe to say rockets will be a very popular pick during Season of the Wish.
