Destiny 2 has drastically changed since its early days as Bungie put a lot of work into the game's faults to correct them, while also taking what made its predecessor great and improving upon it. This wasn't a quick process; it started with Forsaken all the way back in September 2018, and then changed thanks to all the fine-tuning and Destiny's current seasonal model. Seasons are a way for Bungie to make mini-expansions every three months or so, and it is good for the game because it scatters content throughout several weeks rather than going all-in right away. This also provides a great tool in terms of narrative.

Seasons always involve a brand-new story that has ties to previous releases and advances the plot of Destiny 2's universe. Season of the Lost saw the return of Mara Sov and the unmasking of Osiris, who turned out to be Savathun since the events of Season of the Hunt, and players could go back to the Dreaming City to tie some ends with the Witch Queen. While this Season's story is told well thanks to the relationship between Mara, Savathun, and Crow, Bungie missed a big opportunity to feature Eris Morn.

Eris Morn Not Joining Season of the Lost is Weird

Having Eris Morn in Season of the Lost would have made a lot of sense because the Lightless Hunter is the character with the deepest knowledge about the Hive. She was among the six Guardians who wanted to exact revenge on Crota for what was known as the Great Disaster when humanity tried to take the Moon back from the Hive. Eris was the only survivor of the Fireteam, and she lived for years in the tunnels of the Moon; Lightless, with Hive eyes and magic, only to build a spaceship from scraps to flee.

Ever since, Eris has been a major character in all of Destiny 2's Hive-related content. She acted as a guide against both Crota and Oryx in the first installment of the series, and was brought back with the Shadowkeep expansion. She was also a minor character in Beyond Light, where she became an advocate for using the Darkness against those who wield it as a tool of destruction, such as Savathun and the Hive. She has a personal grudge with the Witch Queen, highlighted in one of the lore pages for Beyond Light called "To the Witch Queen," in which Eris states it will be her to end Savathun's life and legacy.

Because of this, in a Season where Savathun is a major character, it is disappointing that Eris Morn doesn't play a role in the story. The Guardian and Mara Sov went as far as striking a deal with Savathun to exorcise her Worm so she can be free from its endless hunger, and Eris Morn would likely have a lot to say about this. This is also the last Season before The Witch Queen expansion is released, and having Bungie build up Eris' character before that moment would have made sense.

Still, some players believe that Eris is not part of Season 15 because of her devotion to Mara Sov, meaning she could believe in her queen enough not to object to her choices. Yet, even in that case, this is something players can only speculate about because there is no mention of it anywhere in the game. Meanwhile, Eris Morn remains in the shadows for now, waiting to play a bigger role.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
