Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted was kept shrouded in mystery prior to its release, with the trailer scheduled to go live only 2 hours before the patch itself. However, the official trailer for Season of the Haunted leaked several hours ago, and since then, Bungie chose to share everything about the new chapter in Destiny 2 in advance, including bits about the story and the various new rewards. Unlike other Seasons, there is only one new Exotic confirmed for Season of the Haunted so far, and it is the one coming with the Season Pass: Trespasser.

As far as class-exclusive Exotics and other weapons, nothing has transpired up to now, and players are wondering if that may be a sign of more items being locked behind secret missions, much like Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale from Year 4. If that proves to be the case, Destiny 2 fans will likely discover something about it in the coming weeks, as these missions are often shipped starting around week three or four of a new Season.

Yet, a Destiny 2 fan by the name of Silver_Hobbit, shared a post on Twitter that makes an interesting connection between Season of the Haunted's artifact and the Ravenous Heart from Destiny. For those not familiar with this item, the Ravenous Heart was an Exotic item needed to access the quest from The Taken King expansion that awarded players with the Touch of Malice Exotic scout rifle. This weapon was a way for Oryx to keep gaining power after his demise, perpetuating the Sword Logic of the Hive even in the hands of the god's killers.

Silver_Hobbit's tweet comes with an image that compares the new seasonal artifact with the icon for the Ravenous Heart, and it's not impossible that the connection is intentional. In fact, the Season after Season of the Haunted is going to bring back an old Raid from Destiny to Destiny 2, and that could very well be King's Fall. If that happens, there's a chance that this Season will bridge the gap with the next with a secret quest that unlocks after beating the Raid in order to let players unlock Touch of Malice once more.

Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted starts today, and it will likely last up until August 23, which is three months from now. Season 17's full patch notes will probably be found on social media and the official Bungie Help page later today as well, even though it's unlikely that they will feature any mention of the possible link between Season of the Haunted and the King's Fall Raid, even if it's there.

Destiny 2 is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
