The current Season of Defiance in Destiny 2 has led players through a story involving several key characters, but some fans have pointed out that the current season's timeline image features a certain Eliksni ally who didn't directly appear in Season of Defiance at all. The launch of Destiny 2's most recent season coincided with that of the game's latest annual expansion, and while Bungie seems to have been knee-deep in bugs to fix throughout, Season of Defiance has made a bold start to what will likely be a very busy year for the game.

Only a couple of months in, the sixth year of Destiny 2's lifespan has proven to be an eventful one. The community has both grieved losses and celebrated successes, with the most recent chapters of the nearly decade-long narrative leaving intrigued fans with many mysteries to mull over as the story approaches its conclusion. While Season of Defiance was more focused on battleground activities than single-player missions, it nonetheless succeeded in delivering a step forward in the game's story involving characters such as Devrim Kay, Amanda Holliday, and Mara Sov, longstanding companions within the Destiny 2 universe.

Though each new season for the game generally puts the spotlight on different characters, some players have noticed a bizarre feature in the timeline image for Season of Defiance, which shows the Spider instead of the other allies that fans have worked with throughout the latest season. This was pointed out in a Reddit post from the user EliasHarju, and quickly went on to inspire discussion between fans. Although Scur-V, a member of Spider's old pirate crew, can be seen in the Farm this season, the Eliksni criminal mastermind himself hasn't made an appearance yet this year. Many fans are looking forward to seeing the character again in the future, but for now, it seems that the image is being used as a placeholder along with the un-updated seasonal banner.

The game's latest expansion certainly suffered a rough release, however, with Destiny 2: Lightfall being hit with widespread criticism due to the unsatisfying campaign experience it delivered as well as the significant changes that it made to foundational aspects of the game such as difficulty and weapon balancing. While many of the most pressing technical issues have been taken care of over the course of several hotfixes, Bungie still has a ways to go when it comes to balancing, with the developers planning to further tweak weapon performance in the future.

Lightfall's changes to difficulty in Destiny 2 certainly haven't gone down well with the whole community, with many of the game's more casual audience finding it even more difficult to use their preferred weapons even in lower-end content. With three more seasons standing before the Final Shape expansion set to release early next year, fans are eager to see what further changes will be coming to the game over the course of 2023.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
