Season of Dawn, the newest batch of content for Destiny 2, is finally here. That means that the Season of Undying's Gate Lord's Eye artifact has been removed from players' inventories. There's a new seasonal artifact, the Lantern of Osiris, that offers similar power boosts and unlockables.

Unlike Destiny 2's previous seasonal artifact, which required players to level up the season pass a certain amount by gaining experience, the Lantern of Osiris can only be attained through completing the mission "A Matter of Time." From start to finish the mission chain should take only a couple hours, max.

Where to Start

While players will get the main mission from Osiris himself on Mercury, they must first visit Ikora in the Tower if they already have not done so. Talking with Ikora "unlocks" access to Osiris. She will ask Guardians to seek out Osiris and assist him.

After talking with her, navigate to Mercury's map to find the highlighted node called "Disturbance on Mercury." Select it and launch into the activity. Once on Mercury, Guardians need to climb the stairs in front of them to reach Osiris, who is standing inside the his newly constructed Sundial. After a short chat, Osiris will offer the mission to the player. He wants players to head to the Tangled Shore to mess around with an "Obelisk". Be aware that Osiris may be bugged and require players to back in and out of his menu before some quests appear. Consider going to orbit and loading back in to Mercury if Osiris is being buggy.

Kill Cabal on the Tangled Shore

Osiris's quest demands Guardians to gather 50 Sundial Components. Only Cabal in the Tangled Shore will drop those. Head to Sorik's Cut and start hunting.

Keep in mind that players are awarded one Sundial Component per Cabal kill unless they kill Cabal with either a solar-type weapon or ability, in which case they are awarded three components. Putting on a solar weapon and solar subclass is recommended. This is also a good opportunity to try out those new solar class rework/buffs. After getting all 50 components, players will have to "bank" them Gambit-style at the Tangled Shore's newest addition, a Sundial Obelisk. Fast Travel to Thieves' Landing and the Obelisk will be nearby the spawn point. Bank those components to move on to the next mission step.

Use Supers, Abilities and Collect Orbs of Light

The next mission step requires Guardians to fill up a progress bar by killing enemies with supers and abilities along with collecting orbs of light. It's straightforward, but it will take more time than the previous mission step. Take advantage of Public Event flags which refill super and ability energy. Also, use masterworked weapons to generate orbs. If other guardians are doing a public event, it's a good idea to hang around and try to eat their orbs. Season of Dawn's new exotic armors may also prove useful. After the progress bar is filled, head back to the Obelisk to turn in the mission and link it to the Sundial on Mercury. The Obelisks offer new unique bounties, buffs, and gear, so check those out before heading back to Osiris.

Complete a Run of the New Sundial Activity

Talk with Osiris again and he will have the final mission task: Completing a run of the new Sundial activity. Go to Mercury's map to select the new activity and launch it. It is a PvE activity that matchmakes six guardians together. Much like the previous Season of Opulence's Menagerie, it will task Guardians with completing enough objectives to fill up a bar and then kill a boss to complete it. This week's boss is Niruul, the Hollow Voice, who can be beaten easily. At the end of the activity players will be rewarded with a new weapon of their choosing. After picking a prize, head back to Osiris.

Claim the Lantern of Osiris

After completing the Sundial activity, Guardians need only talk to Osiris once more to be given the new seasonal artifact. The Lantern of Osiris will automatically equip itself to the slot where the Gate Lord's Eye once was. Players will immediately be able to start earning experience to level up the artifact, once again grinding for perks and power levels.
