Bungie has announced that it is tweaking Destiny 2’s economy, along with post-match rewards obtained from ritual playlist activities, and is adding new weapons to the game. These will take effect in the upcoming Destiny 2 Season 22, which remains unnamed.

While Lightfall DLC received mixed reviews from the community, Bungie managed to right some of its wrongs with Destiny 2 Season of the Deep’s storytelling. It finally revealed what The Veil is and explained the origins of the game’s biggest villain, The Witness. Bungie also added Fishing as an activity to the game, which the community was really happy with. However, there were some complaints about the rewards obtained from ritual activities in the game that were highlighted after the launch of Lightfall. To rectify this, Bungie has announced that it is making changes to the post-match rewards system and is also changing up the in-game economy.

In an official blog post, Bungie explained that it noted the feedback from players regarding inconsistent reward drops after completing ritual activities like Strikes, Gambit, and Crucible. With Season 22, players will have a higher chance of getting a ritual engram containing a ritual weapon or armor. Additionally, instead of having to wait for the next season, players will be able to focus ritual weapons in the season they are added to the game. Additionally, Season 22 will also introduce nine new weapons, where the fan-favorite Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Hand Cannon Igneous Hammer is making a comeback as a new archetype.

As for the economy changes, the caps on the Masterwork materials in Destiny 2 are being increased. For instance, players will now be able to hold 30 Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Alloys, and the capacity of Enhancement Prisms has been increased from 50 to 100. One big change here is that these materials will no longer go to the Postmaster and will remain in players’ inventory. Additionally, to prevent players from losing these materials, they won’t receive any more of these materials once the cap is reached. Bungie also plans to reveal some larger economy changes soon to eliminate any chances of currency inflation.

The upcoming Season 22 will also buff Destiny 2’s underutilized exotics and nerf the best ones. Furthermore, Season 21 revealed that Savathun will be coming back, which could happen in Season 22. The upcoming season will also feature a reprised raid, which could be either Crota’s End or Wrath of the Machine, according to certain leaks.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
