  • The exotic mission rotator includes missions like Presage, Vox Obscura, and Operation: Seraph Shield, each with unique craftable weapons and gear.

In the latest weekly address, Bungie reveals new details for the exotic mission rotator coming in season 22 including the various rewards that Destiny 2 players can expect to find. Although Bungie continues to keep the story beats of Season 22 under wraps, it has used the past few weeks to share additional insights into some of the changes players can expect. For example, just this week, Bungie revealed a large list of changes coming to Destiny 2 exotic gear and weapons in Season 22.

Another major source of information came from Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn, giving fans a long term view of Bungie's plans as well as more teases for content coming sooner than later. The State of the Game address provided a bit of clarity on Destiny 2 ritual activities including Gambit, Vanguard Strikes, and the Crucible, while also teasing major and long term changes like the Pathfinder system. Blackburn's blog also included an update to the anticipated exotic mission rotator, which was again highlighted in a new blog post.

During the weekly Destiny 2 blog update, Bungie provided a thorough rundown of how Season 22's exotic mission rotator works. Considering many missions have been lost to the content vaulting process, the Exotic Rotator gives Bungie a way to bring them back, swapping them out on a weekly basis similar to how the Raid and Dungeon rotator works currently. Each mission comes with a pool of legacy Seasonal rewards, offers a Normal and Legendary version, and makes each exotic weapon craftable once the pattern has been unlocked through subsequent playthroughs.

When Season 22 begins, players will have these three missions to select from, though Bungie has made it clear that more missions will be added over time.

Destiny 2 Presage Mission

Presage

Presage makes the Dead Man's Tale scout rifle craftable, bringing with it a new trait pool to pick from as well. In order to play this mission, Destiny 2 players will need to own Beyond Light or Season of the Chosen.

While playing this mission, Bungie has added armor and weapons from the Season of the Chosen as well as the following:

  • Nezarec's Whisper
  • Bump in the Night
  • Tears of Contrition
  • Hollow Denial
  • Firefright
  • Without Remorse
  • Austringer
  • Drang (Baroque)
  • Beloved
  • CALUS Mini-Tool
  • Eidolon Pursuant armor set
Destiny 2 Vox Obscura Exotic Mission And The Dead Messenger Grenade Launcher (1)

Vox Obscura

This exotic mission is tied to the Dead Messenger grenade launcher, which makes it craftable and has one additional trait. The prerequisites for this mission is ownership of The Witch Queen or Season of the Risen.

The mission offers weapons from Season of the Risen in addition to the following gear:

  • Explosive Personality
  • Recurrent Impact
  • Under Your Skin
  • Sweet Sorrow
  • Thoughtless
  • Piece of Mind
  • Tusked Allegiance armor set
Destiny 2 Operation Seraph's Shield Orbital

Operation: Seraph Shield

The final exotic mission when Season 22 begins is Operation: Seraph Shield which featured the unique exotic pulse rifle Revision Zero. Nothing has changed as this weapon was already featured as a craftable weapon during its season. Like the other missions, this one requires ownership of The Witch Queen or Season of the Seraph.

In addition to gear from Season of the Seraph, players will also come across randomized rolls of the following:

  • Fire and Forget
  • Tripwire Canary
  • Disparity
  • Path of Least Resistance
  • Judgment of Kelgorath
  • Retrofit Escapade
  • IKELOS_HC_v1.0.3
  • IKELOS_SG_v1.0.3
  • IKELOS_SR_v1.0.3
  • IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3
  • Warmind’s Avatar armor set

Wrapping up the segment, Bungie also confirmed that each mission will feature a weekly challenge. The challenge rewards will feature pinnacle power levels and have a prioritization order that starts with a locked Deepsight Weapon pattern, then an armor piece that has yet to be earned for the currently equipped Destiny 2 class. If all previous rewards have been earned, the weekly challenge will issue a randomized weapon or armor piece.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
