Destiny 2's third major release in The Witch Queen era is Season of Plunder, which takes players aboard Fallen Ketch ships to collect new enticing loot and retrieve powerful artifacts before the enemies do. Season of Plunder starts with the revelation that Beyond Light's main enemy character, a powerful Stasis-wielding Fallen named Eramis, has been freed from her glacial prison and is now roaming free in the Solar System under direct orders from The Witness. Destiny 2's new Season does keep the usual gritty and dim tones that Bungie's narrative is known for, and it brings back into the action characters like the Drifter, the Spider, Mithrax, and his daughter Eido.

Coming with a complete rework of the game's Arc subclasses, Season of Plunder is the last entry in Year 5 of Destiny 2 to feature major changes to the various elemental classes, with the Lightfall expansion introducing Strand, a brand-new damage type. In Season of Plunder, Destiny 2 players will go up against Eramis' crew and probably the Shipstealer as well, and the story will most likely have some kind of tie to Lightfall and the overarching Light and Darkness saga. This guide will help gamers to get started in Season 18, complete the seasonal activities, and approach endgame content.

Much like every seasonal release in Destiny 2, Season of Plunder starts with a story cutscene and introductory mission when players first jump into the game. Completing this first mission is what provides the seasonal artifact, which players can level up by completing Bounties and playing through all activities in Destiny 2, be it seasonal content, Raids, Dungeons, or anything else. Season of Plunder also comes with a new vendor and more currency types to hoard and spend, which can take a bit of time to grow accustomed to.

This section of the guide will focus on the basics, with How-to guides going over new additions, like the aforementioned currency types, and how to spend them to upgrade the Star Chart in the HELM. New and returning Destiny 2 players also will also find tips and tricks for Season of Plunder, a compilation of the best builds and mods to use, and all the Powerful or Pinnacle gear sources in the game.

After the events of Beyond Light, Destiny 2 players left Eramis thawed in an icy prison that enveloped her body and left her for dead on Europa. The so-called "Kell of Darkness" was not really dead, however, and Season of Plunder begins with The Witness releasing Eramis from her Stasis cell with an ultimatum: either she cooperates and retrieves powerful relics or she will be detained once more. Players put up an improvised pirate crew to take on Eramis' fleet, with help coming from the Eliksni of the House of Light under Mithrax's guidance, the Drifter, and the Spider.

Rather than providing players with a whole set of missions to play from the get-go, Destiny 2's Seasons typically have a weekly approach to story content. This section will go over the weekly steps added to the Sails of the Shipstealer overarching story mission and how to complete them. It's worth mentioning that while the story missions come out on a weekly basis, players can start the quest chain at any given point in time.

Back when Bungie announced The Witch Queen expansion, the company stated that every Season in Year 5 would come with either a new Raid or a Dungeon, and in Season of Plunder, Destiny 2 players can jump into King's Fall. Originally a Destiny Raid, King's Fall now features some new mechanics, better perk pools on the weapons, and massive improvements to its graphics. Season of Plunder also came with brand-new activities in the form of Ketchcrash, Expedition, and Hideouts, each with its own mechanics.

Both the Raid and the seasonal activities have their respective challenges for players to complete, with the former now being available only in Normal Mode, whereas Ketchcrash and Expedition can already be accessed in Master Mode as well. This section will feature a walkthrough of King's Fallencounters, from Totems to Oryx, and a complete guide to Season of Plunder's main activities.

Just like every new Season since the release of The Witch Queen expansion, Destiny 2's Season of Plunder comes with exciting new weapons that players can acquire while playing through seasonal content, the King's Fall Raid, or from the world loot pool. This includes six Season of Plunder weapons, six King's Fall weapons, a new pinnacle weapon from all playlist activities, and much more from the shared world pool and game modes like Trials of Osiris and Nightfall Strikes.

Not all of these weapons are craftable, but a good chunk of them are, including the newly released Ammit AR2 and Taipan-4FR. This section will cover all the Season of Plunder-exclusive weapons that come from the various activities in Destiny 2 and guides that go into detail about the best rolls to craft, including guides on how to get weapons that might have different requirements or quests to unlock.

After playing a given Season for a while, Destiny 2 gamers will be able to access all the hardest activities to show their combat prowess, be it in PvE or PvP content. By acquiring all the gear Season of Plunder has to offer and mastering all the difficult activities it features, players will then be ready to take on everything else. This includes Master Dungeons, Master Raids, Trials of Osiris, Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes, and more. Each activity has its own set of challenges for players to tackle, and most of the time an important requirement is going to be Power Level.

For example, Season of Plunder's Master content is generally set at 1600 Power Level, which means that Destiny 2 players will have to get as many Pinnacle rewards as possible while also leveling up their seasonal artifact to be on par with the requirements. Grandmaster Nightfalls are an exception to this rule, as they have a set Power Level cap that makes the activity always much more difficult regardless. This section will include guides about the various endgame activities, farming tips, and explanations on how to unlock the game's hardest-to-get Seals.
