Destiny 2 players are frustrated with the Neomuna red border weapon drop rate which was recently nerfed for unknown reasons. The community was already struggling to obtain these weapons on Neomuna, a destination launched with Destiny 2's Lightfall DLC, and this nerf has just added to players' frustration.

Bungie introduced weapon crafting in Destiny 2 with the Witch Queen DLC last year. Since then, the crafting system has seen its fair share of tweaks, to a point where the process of obtaining weapon patterns is now a little easier and much more rewarding as well. However, the drop rate for red border weapons is still based on RNG, which can be annoying at times, and is also the root cause of frustration among some players. Considering the Neomuna red border weapon drop rates were already pretty low, players are arguing that nerfing it further was unnecessary and that it will incentivize people to give up on obtaining them altogether.

Reddit user PrettyFlyForAReply expressed their disappointment via a post on the DTG subreddit which reads, “First of all, the drop rate wasn’t high! It was horrible before. People had to target-farm the golden patrols and even then it took many people a ridiculous amount of patrols and rank-ups to get the red borders.” Additionally, they also mentioned how the whole idea behind this nerf makes mo sense considering players are perpetually level-capped on Neomuna in Destiny 2, which makes completing Public Events and Heroic patrols a difficult task. Even if players managed to complete these activities, there is no guarantee that they will receive the weapon they were looking for. PrettyFlyForAReply also remarked how this didn’t make sense from a business perspective as well considering players will stop visiting Neomuna altogether, which isn’t something Bungie would want.

Several other players commented on the post sharing their experience with the Neomuna weapon drop rates. User GameSpawn agreed with the original post and revealed how they hardly got any red border drops from all the Heroic Patrols they finished, and that the only ones they received were from the Lightfall campaign. Another user mentioned that they have only unlocked three weapon patterns so far, most of which were acquired from completing Nimbus Bounties, despite being above Season Pass rank 320 in Destiny 2 Season of Defiance.

Bungie has been proactive in making changes to Destiny 2 based on community feedback, but players feel that this nerf was uncalled-for. Time will tell if Bungie decides to make changes based on this feedback or not.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
