  • Bungie announced a new collaboration with BioWare to bring Mass Effect-themed cosmetics to Destiny 2, including armor sets, a ship, and more.

Bungie has revealed its latest Destiny 2 collaboration with BioWare, which will bring Mass Effect-inspired cosmetics to the game. This is Bungie’s first major collaboration of 2024, following the Witcher collaboration that kicked off with Destiny 2 Season of the Wish in 2023.

Over the years, Bungie has collaborated with several video games to bring different cosmetics and items to Destiny 2. For instance, 2023 alone saw several high-profile collaborations with games like God of War, Horizon, The Last of Us, and Ghost of Tsushima. It also recently partnered with Arknights to bring Destiny 2-inspired cosmetics to the mobile title. However, these collaborations are usually one-sided affairs where Bungie brings themed cosmetics to Destiny 2. Now, with a new collaboration that also looks like one-way traffic, Destiny 2 is getting cosmetics and items from another major franchise.

Bungie revealed Destiny 2’s latest collaboration with BioWare’s Mass Effect. This will include Commander Shepherd-inspired armor for Titans, a Liara T'Soni-inspired set for Warlocks, and a Garrus Vakarian-themed set for Hunters. Additionally, a Mass Effect-themed ship, Ghost Shell, and Sparrow will also be available to the players. An emote and finisher can also be purchased for Silver from the Eververse store starting Feb 13; however, the armor ornaments and other items will be available to all players for free. This is an interesting development considering all of Destiny 2's previous collaborations required players to buy stuff using Silver.

A major free collaboration such as this could earn Bungie the brownie points it sorely needs considering the current state of Destiny 2. Following the release of Lightfall, Destiny 2’s popularity has taken a massive hit, worsened by the massive layoffs at Bungie. Another report also revealed the grim state of Bungie employees following the layoffs, as it struggled to keep its independence after being acquired by Sony. To top it all off, Bungie delayed the upcoming Destiny 2 The Final Shape expansion to June 2024. Despite the chaos, Bungie has been proactive in communicating its plans for Destiny 2 while waiting for the game’s last expansion, which the community has greatly appreciated.

As for its most recent updates, Bungie is adding Weekly Missions "Wishes" to Destiny 2 Season 23 that will let players earn raid weapons, exotics, and more. Aside from this, a Crucible map pack is also on its way which will provide a much-needed respite for PvP players. Furthermore, the glimmer cap in the game has been increased from 250,000 to 500,000.
