Merely weeks away from release, Bungie just released a new trailer for Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion, showcasing some of the new toys guardians will be able to play with as they contend with the forces of The Witness across Neomuna. Since the inception of the franchise, the varieties of weapons and armor available in both games have become synonymous with the charm of Destiny itself, and the arrival of Destiny 2's latest expansion will only expand the arsenal of creative destruction.

Bungie had already promised a significant update to the player armory back when Destiny 2: Lightfall was first announced in 2022 during its annual showcase. Throughout the history of Destiny, every major release and content update has seen the introduction of new exotic weapons and armor. Oftentimes, these exotics are thematically associated with the expansion or season of release. And each one of these exotic weapons and armor is based on an in-game mechanic or functionality, which either alters a build or even creates new build archetypes.

In the trailer, the first weapon to be introduced is the Final Warning pistol, capable of firing strand rounds, with an alternative fire mode capable of tracking enemies automatically. The exotic machine gun Deterministic Chaos is based on the void subclass and will fire a weakening round every 4th shot and a volatile round every 16th shot. The final exotic is a stasis-themed Glaive called Winterbite, which can fire orbs of stasis energy capable of freezing enemies in place. As build diversity and Champions mods will be overhauled in Lightfall, this glaive will be extremely important in Master and Grandmaster content to keep enemies at bay. The biggest surprise was the reveal of Quicksilver Storm's catalyst. The catalyst will allow players to suspend enemies with strand energy if they manage to get a kill with the grenade launcher of Quicksilver Storm.

Outside of weapons, the trailer also featured one piece of exotic armor for each of the classes. Hunters are getting a helmet called Cyrtarachne's Façade, which will allow players to get increased flinch resilience after they perform a grapple. Already a nimble class by default, proficient hunters will find this exotic to be best-in-slot for creative positioning and sharpshooting. The featured exotic for Warlocks is a pair of boots called Swarmers. These boots will allow warlocks to destroy any tangles they encounter, which will spawn threadlings. These threadlings work like the Stasis seeker bolts but instead of freezing enemies, these will outright dispatch enemies. And finally, Titans are getting a pair of boots called Abeyant Leap, which upon deploying a barricade will fire out three waves of Strand energy demolishing enemy ranks.

In true Bungie fashion, this trailer only offers a taste of what awaits players in Destiny 2's newest venture. More exotic gear and possibly even secret exotic quests await players on Neomuna when Lightfall launches. In the meantime, players will have to hold back the forces of The Witness as Season of the Seraph enters the final stretch.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Destiny 2: Lightfall is set to release on all platforms on February 28.
