Destiny 2 players demand several changes to the Iron Banner rank system and its rewards following the PvP event's return during Season of Defiance. During Iron Banner week in Destiny 2, players compete in competitive multiplayer matches sanctioned by Lord Saladin to earn powerful rewards and complete limited-time challenges.

Following the launch of the Lightfall expansion, Bungie confirmed the week-long Iron Banner event will held three times each season going forward. Destiny 2 players earn reputation and rewards by completing Iron Banner matches and completing weekly challenges, which may be tracked by visiting the Crucible playlist menu. These challenges usually involve completing Iron Banner matches while using a specific elemental subclass such as Solar or Strand. Although Iron Banner presents the opportunity to earn powerful weapons and armor, Destiny 2 players believe the rank system and its rewards need substantial changes.

Reddit user Bestow 5000 and fellow Destiny 2 players are demanding Bungie to make several changes to Iron Banner ranks and rewards. First, Bestow 5000 wants subsequent Iron Banner rank resets to introduce an additional perk slot to weapons acquired from winning matches, completing challenges, and visiting Lord Saladin at the Tower. The user is annoyed by the high amount of weapon drops they receive that only feature a single perk in the third and fourth columns, and the change may incentivize players to continue participating in Iron Banner and leveling up their rank.

Some Destiny 2 players believe the Iron Banner rank system is lackluster due to an absence of meaningful rewards following the first rank reset. Others suggest Bungie could immediately act by reintroducing Destiny 2's Season 3 Iron Banner ornaments as a rank reward after the first reset. Increasing the drop rate of Iron Banner rewards and decreasing the drop rate of legendary world loot drops in matches were more suggestions that players wish Bungie would consider in the near future.

The changes presented by Bestow 5000 and other players may help Iron Banner retain a large player base throughout its entire duration. For example, adjustments to Iron Banner ranks and rewards may encourage players to reset their rank multiple times. If the rewards are worthwhile, more players may be willing to spend time grinding for weapons in Iron Banner.

Bungie will likely share more details about major Iron Banner changes before Season of the Deep launches this May. However, it remains to be seen if Bungie will take any of the suggestions that were recently presented into consideration. Player feedback is an important factor for Bungie determining what may come next in a new update, so Destiny 2 players should continue to share their opinions about Iron Banner in the meantime.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
