The second week of Destiny 2's Season 22 ushered in some answers for players, namely, how to get those Arcana cards that have been spotted throughout the world since the season began. Though Guardians have found some of the cards quickly enough, and a few didn't require any other conditions be met, many were inaccessible unless players matched a specific elemental "attunement." Now, as the Season 22 narrative moves forward, players can finally become attuned to an element of their choice and start hunting cards. But, of course, there's a catch.

In the expansive world of Destiny 2, Bungie is constantly introducing innovative new mechanics to keep players engaged. The Season of the Witch is no exception, introducing the Deck of Whispers and the game's first deckbuilding mechanic. Throughout the season, players can obtain new cards and customize their own unique deck of situational buffs. Accompanying these Season 22 features are the new Savathun's Spire and Altars of Summoning activities, both holding secrets that can help Guardians earn additional cards and seasonal rewards, like the secret chests in Savathun's Spire.

Understanding the Deck of Whispers

The Deck of Whispers isn't just your average collection of cards. It is a gateway to a set of unique buffs beneficial for Guardians and their teams. Players primarily dive into seasonal tasks to unlock these game-changing bonuses, gather Opaque Cards, and transform them into Major or Minor Arcana cards at the Lectern of Divination. That said, some cards cannot be received as a reward via activities. Certain cards must be found hidden away in areas of the game, and among those are even more fickle cards demanding an attunement with a specific element.

How to Become Attuned to an Element

The second week of the season greeted players with the unveiling of elemental attunement. Once attuned, players can interact with hidden Arcana cards coinciding with the same element. Guardians can only attune with one element at a time, but opportunities to attune with additional elements will appear throughout the season. The path to attunement is a part of the seasonal quest to empower Eris Morn to defeat the powerful Hive god of war.

How to Acquire Solar, Arc, or Void Attunement

  1. Dive into the Seasonal Quest: Play through steps 1-6 of 'The Bladed Path' quest.
  2. Choose Your Elemental Attunement: On the 7th step, visit the Athenaeum's Ritual Table and choose one elemental attunement: Arc, Solar, or Void.
  3. Further Studies: Step 8 of 'The Bladed Path' asks Guardians to defeat enemies in seasonal activities or on Savathun's Throne World with their chosen element.
  4. Rune Attune: Step 9 will have players return to Savathun's Throne World and seek out one of its Lost Sectors. Each Lost Sector contains runes corresponding with one of the three elements available for attunement. Guardians must venture in and activate these runes by shooting them. When all runes are active, text alerts players that "a ritual circle manifests nearby," and a green interactable ritual circle appears to finish this quest stage.
  5. Story Beats: Play through 'The Bladed Path' steps 10-12. These are story beats that evolve the seasonal narrative.
  6. Lectern Visit: After reaching step 13, players should head to the Lectern of Divination. There, they can choose one of the three Opaque Cards, influenced by their elemental preference. Accomplish the corresponding quest to embed the card into the Deck of Whispers and complete attunement.
  7. Continued Attunement: Players who desire to have a complete set of elemental attunements should stay the course with 'The Bladed Path' quest in the subsequent weeks.

Attunement Bonuses

  • Void Attunement: Any source of Void damage triggers Suppression.
  • Arc Attunement: Any source of Arc damage adds Jolt.
  • Solar Attunement: Any source of Solar damage applies Scorch.

Where to Find Attuned and Opaque Cards

The seasonal quest and activity rewards aren't the only way to get new Arcana cards. However, these hidden options have a few extra hoops to jump through. Even after attuning to an element, Guardians will still have to seek out these sneaky rewards, and any one player won't be able to earn them all until later in the season. Still, with the itch of curiosity and the promise of rewards, players will undoubtedly find themselves delving into Savathun's Spire and the Altars of Summoning in pursuit of these cards. As a bonus, there are even a couple of cards that do not require any specific elemental attunement, and one is right in the backyard of the H.E.L.M.

With Season 22, Bungie has already proven that it's taking direct inspiration from Savathun herself, adding new collectibles weekly, swapping secret chest locations, and hiding Arcana cards that players can only unlock via a particular set of conditions. To that end, there's always the chance more Attuned cards will appear as Season 22 continues.

Savathun's Spire Attuned Cards

Destiny-2-Solar-Arcana-Card
  1. Void Attunement Required: Immediately after the first encounter, turn around after being lifted out of the first arena by green energy. The card is in the back of the room.
  2. Arc Attunement Required: After passing the three swinging lanterns and traversing through the purple hallway, the card is off to the left, just before an elevator.
  3. Solar Attunement Required: Immediately following the previous Arc card, the Solar card is on the right side of the next room, just after Guardians leap out of the lift.
  4. Void Attunement Required: After the second encounter when you go through the portal and enter the room with the Hive runes and all the doors, do not enter any of the green portals. The Void card is behind these doors, along the edge of the back of the room.
  5. Solar Attunement Required: After the second encounter, travel through the first door matching the Hive runes and turn around. The Solar Card will be on a ledge to the left.
  6. Arc Attunement Required: During the Hive rune door puzzle, turn around after taking the second elevator up. The Arc card will be in the back of the room.

Altars of Summoning Attuned Cards

Destiny-2-Altars-of-Summoning-waterfall
  1. Void Attunement Required: Guardians can head to the Altar of Feracity and keep their eyes peeled along its right side. They'll spot the Void card above a collapsed column, sitting atop some pink vegetation.
  2. Solar Attunement Required: Players can head all the way to the back of the central arena (Altar of Flesh) and then up some stairs and into one of the fortress's right wings. The Solar card is at the far end of this right-side chamber.
  3. Arc Attunement Required: There is a waterfall on the back left side of the Altar of Devotion. The Arc card is tucked just behind the waterfall.
  4. No Attunement Required: An Opaque Card requiring no specific attunement can also be found in the Altar of Devotion arena. It is in an alcove towards the front right side of the locale.

Athenaeum Cards

A Destiny 2 player notices an eerie similarity between Eris Morn and Savathun within the new seasonal space.
  1. No Attunement Required: Just outside Eris Morn's ritual circle and off the ledge, to the right of the inactive Deck of Whispers cards, an Opaque Card lies in wait. It's just out of sight behind the columns making up the circle, by a tree.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
