Destiny 2's Season of the Deep held whispers of a new Exotic weapon, which was introduced through the Deep Dive activity and fishing. Once players had completed the somewhat secretive mission and earned the Wicked Implement scout rifle, they become eligible to earn its Catalyst as well. It's a solid, powerful Stasis weapon, even in a meta that doesn't necessarily favor scout rifles, so it's definitely worth scoring this season in Destiny 2.

How To Get The Wicked Implement Scout Rifle

Players will need to hit the three fishing locations (Throne World, Nessus, and EDZ) to catch each location's respective Exotic fish. After that, they'll have to access the Deep Dive mission and activate three hidden Hive statues located around the map for a special, epic boss fight in an arena (which is also loosely timed).

How To Get The Wicked Implement Catalyst

Destiny 2 Invoke Darkness Orb

The Catalyst will only drop from a Deep Dive reward chest once players have the weapon. It does not need to be equipped for the activity. Simply start another Deep Dive mission, but this time, make sure to activate all the shiny, white Taken orbs (or Toland orbs, as some call them) hidden in the three stages of the arena. All players in the fireteam need to activate them for a special challenge to begin in each three stages.

If done correctly, by the time players arrive at the final boss (this is right after consuming Ahsa's Rallying Gift), a permanent buff on the left side should confirm that players have unlocked Tier 7 rewards.

At Tier 7 the Catalyst should be a guaranteed drop from the final chest of the Deep Dive activity, though there have been reports that Tier 5 is also acceptable (but not guaranteed). The safest way to ensure the Catalyst drops is to just activate all three Toland orbs and to have Tier 7 rewards active when entering the final boss fight.

What The Wicked Implement Catalyst Does

  • Hadopelagic Tribute: Collecting Stasis shards gradually overflows the magazine.

In order to apply the Catalyst, players will have to score 700 kills with the Wicked Implement to unlock the Masterwork option. This can be done fairly easily since it's a Primary weapon not reliant on Special or Heavy ammo drops.

The Hadopelagic Tribute perk is basically a slightly modified Overflow perk for the Wicked Implement. Any Stasis shards picked up will overflow the magazine over time, which is handy as it reduces the need for reloading—and works well with a few select Stasis builds.

It works perfectly with the already available two perks, Creeping Attrition (precision hits slow targets) and Tithing Harvest (spawns Stasis shards when scoring kills whenever Creeping Attrition is active). In other words, Hadopelagic Tribute basically allows Tithing Harvest to not just fill the magazine but actually overflow it.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
