Exotic weapons in Destiny 2 come from a variety of sources. While quite a few are random drops from either any activity or specific ones like dungeons and raids, many Exotics are acquired through quests. Witch Queen continued this trend with the quest for Dead Messenger in Season 16, and Season 19 follows this up with a quest for a weapon called Revision Zero.

Revision Zero is a powerful Exotic Pulse Rifle that can be crafted like Osteo Striga, an Exotic Submachine Gun. Revision Zero, however, is unique because of how highly customizable the gun is. Here is how players can unlock and complete the quest to obtain Revision Zero.

Updated January 4th, 2023 by Paul Woodward: While the quest to get Revision Zero was initially part of the storyline for More Than a Weapon, the rest of the quests involved with unlocking upgrades for this Exotic weapon are optional. With each week of Season of the Seraph, a new quest will be available that allows players to upgrade the intrinsic trait on Revision Zero along with unlocking one of four Catalysts. The quest steps are all the same, and ultimately end with players having to complete the Legend version of Operation: Seraph's Shield. Upgrading Revision Zero also unlocks Weapon Ornaments that can be applied at any time.

How to Get the Quest for Revision Zero

Since the quest to get Revision Zero is heavily associated with the storyline of Season of the Seraph, Destiny 2 players will not be able to get this quest until they've completed the first two weeks of More Than a Weapon. After looting a Seraph Chest during the quest steps for Week 3, players will need to use the Holoprojector near the Exo Frame.

Shortly after this, they will get a quest to complete a mission called Operation: Seraph's Shield. This mission is also required to complete the third week of More Than a Weapon, so players can work on both at the same time. Operation: Seraph's Shield is a lengthy and difficult mission filled with puzzles that use mechanics from the Deep Stone Crypt raid. While it can be done solo, bringing a group is recommended as it will make it go faster.

Interact With the Exo Frame

After completing Operation: Seraph's Shield, Destiny 2 players will need to interact with the Exo Frame. Rather than speaking with Clovis Bray, players will instead get a message from a Hidden Agent who goes only by FEN-092. This is where players get a red bordered version of Revision Zero. That said, the quest for this gun doesn't end there.

FEN-092 tells players to take the weapon to the Enclave on Mars and craft a new version of the gun. Before that, players should make sure to either complete the Deepsight Resonance objective on Revision Zero or dismantle it to acquire the pattern for the gun. While most patterns for weapon crafting require five red bordered weapons, Revision Zero only needs one.

In order to craft Revision Zero, players must have completed the opening mission of Witch Queen , The Arrival. Once players have unlocked the ability to craft weapons, they will be able to proceed with the next step and craft Revision Zero.

Shape Revision Zero

For the next step of the quest, Destiny 2 players will need to shape a new version of Revision Zero. They can keep the other version of Revision Zero if they wish. The basic version of Revision Zero is not particularly expensive to craft. As players craft Revision Zero, they will notice that there are intrinsic perks and catalysts that they don't have access to yet. These are unlocked by completing the "Should You Choose to Accept It" quests.

How to Upgrade Revision Zero

From Week 4 onward of Season of the Seraph, Destiny 2 players will get a new quest to upgrade Revision Zero and unlock one of the four Catalysts available for the gun. In order to get these quests, players will need to have completed the story quest for that week first. After that, the quest can be picked up at the Exo Frame. Players will first need to complete a mission that shows up on the H.E.L.M.

After that, the quest requires players to go to a destination like the Moon or Europa. Upon arriving at the destination, the quest will update once again. The objective will be to simply get kills and complete patrol missions. Once that step is complete, players will need to enter the Lost Sector specified in the quest. After beating the boss, look for a terminal nearby the chest. Interact with it and then move away as it does explode a few seconds later.

To finish the quest and get the upgrade, Destiny 2 players will have to load into the Legend version of Operation: Seraph's Shield. If possible, soloing the mission is recommended as it scales with the amount of players in the Fireteam and is much more difficult with a team of three players as opposed to just one.

As they progress through the mission, Destiny 2 players will want to be on the lookout for Dead Exos. Each quest for upgrading Revision Zero requires players to find a Dead Exo and retrieve a Golden Age Weapon Component that they have. After that, players will need to finish Operation: Seraph's Shield, and they will have successfully unlocked the upgrade for Revision Zero. Of course, to apply the upgrades players will need to take it to the Enclave on Mars and reshape Revision Zero.

Destiny 2 is available now on Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
