How To Get Nessa's Oblation

Destiny 2-Root of Nightmares Second Encounter Arena

For the short and sweet answer, the Nessa's Oblation Shotgun can only be acquired by completing the second and final encounters of the Root of Nightmares raid. Completing the second encounter, Scission, will be a much easier experience and faster method of obtaining the gun rather than squaring off against the final boss of the raid, Nezarec, multiple times. However, players should keep in mind that completing the encounters will not guarantee the weapon to drop, so it may take a few tries before finally earning it.

That said, players only need to acquire the weapon once, as once they do, they can then spend their Spoils of Conquest currency after defeating Nezarec to purchase more copies of the gun in search of better rolls for it. Keep in mind that it will cost twenty Spoils of Conquest per purchase.

With the knowledge of how to obtain the gun in hand, it's time to discuss what rolls players should look for.

What Is The God Roll For Nessa's Oblation?

Destiny 2-Nessa's Oblation-Root of Nightmares Weapon

Unfortunately for the Nessa's Oblation, its perk pool is not well-suited for PvP activities, even though it's a Slug Shotgun. That said, it does have a solid combo to work with for those who wish to use it in PvP anyway. The God Roll for PvP that players should look for is Reconstruction and Opening Shot.

Reconstruction will automatically reload the gun from reserves and double the magazine capacity after being stowed for some time. On the other hand, Opening Shot will increase the gun's range and accuracy on the first shot. It's by no means a "perfect" roll for PvP, but Opening Shot will be great when starting the fight, and Reconstruction will reload the gun for the player after picking up some ammo, so it can put in some work in the right hands.

PvE is a different story. The Nessa's Oblation is currently the only gun in the game that can roll with the Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds perks. Repulsor Brace grants an Overshield to the Guardian after defeating an enemy afflicted with a Void debuff. On the other hand, Destabilizing Rounds makes nearby enemies Volatile after defeating a target. Thus, it's a rinse-and-repeat process of constantly making enemies Volatile while gaining an Overshield each time a Volatile enemy is beaten. It's no secret how the Nessa's Oblation has risen to fame so quickly.

As far as Barrel, Magazine, and Masterwork go, any perks that can provide more range will be essential for a Slug Shotgun like the Nessa's Oblation. With that in mind, players should look for Corkscrew Rifling for the Barrel, Accurized Rounds or Assault Mag for the Magazine, and a Range Masterwork.

Players who wish to obtain the Adept version of the Nessa'a Oblation must wait until it becomes the featured reward for completing a raid challenge in a given week.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
