Destiny 2's buildcrafting options have been expanded significantly over the year 2022. Players received subclass updates to everything except Stasis, and many Exotics went through major balance changes. Now, more than ever is a great time for any PVE players in particular to jump in and create their ideal builds.

A huge part of buildcrafting in Destiny 2 is having high-stat armor. High-stat armor is an armor piece that has not only a high overall stat value located underneath the individual stats (a total of above 63 is typically considered good), but it also has high peaks in desirable stats like Resilience, or whatever other stat the player would like to enhance. Here's how to get high-stat armor in Destiny 2.

What Is "Good" Armor In Destiny 2?

Destiny 2 High Stat Armor Piece-1

Some players might be wondering if a piece of armor is worth keeping. Others may not even know what stat they should focus on when farming for high-stat armor. The answer to both of these questions is, in short: it depends.

Generally speaking, any armor that has a total stat value of over 63 is worth pausing at. If the distribution of stats is good as well, then it's worth tossing into the vault to wait for the day it will be needed for masterworking and builds.

To easily craft builds, players can use D2 Armor Picker, which will automatically check the player's vault and inventory for the best combination of high-stat armor.

Destiny 2 Tier 3 Stats

Which stat is the best to focus on? Right now, high resilience is the best stat to focus on in Destiny 2, because it gives a significant 40% damage resistance at Tier 10 (so 100 Resilience). This is a must-have for just about any class and subclass, especially in PVE.

However, other stats are also worth considering. For example, Recovery mods are extremely expensive to add to armor, so players may want to focus on getting a few high Recovery pieces, and it's another general stat that any class and subclass will benefit from.

Discipline is a close favorite for many due to it reducing grenade ability cooldown, and finally, Intellect is fantastic for builds that rely on building up Super energy quickly, especially in PVP where getting one's Super can be extremely tricky.

Apply An Armorer Ghost Mod

Destiny 2 Ghost Mods

The first thing to do is to go to one's Ghost and apply an Armorer mod. Each Armorer mod specializes in one stat, so choose carefully and feel free to switch these mods around as needed. Once one Armorer mod is applied, it guarantees a minimum of 10 points in that given stat.

Note that when playing through activities that have stat-focused armor as loot, players may want to change the stat their Armorer mod specializes in. There's a simple rule in Destiny 2, where the top three stats (Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery), are considered one category, and the bottom three stats (Discipline, Intellect, and Strength) are considered another.

So, if an activity has Resilience focused armor, the player's Armorer mod should be switched to a stat in the other group, so in this case either Discipline, Intellect, or Strength. This increases the chance of having better, higher peaks with good stat distribution.

Focus Umbral Engrams

Destiny 2 Seraphic Armor Focusing

At the H.E.L.M., players can focus their Umbral Engrams at the seasonal vendor to reward them with high-stat armor. This is by far the easiest and most accessible method for most players, as it doesn't require endgame PVE builds or champion mods.

Players simply need to hoard a few Umbral Engrams, some seasonal Umbral Energy for the focusing, and visit the seasonal vendor. Focusing typically needs to be activated after a few weeks of grinding the game, so players shouldn't expect to immediately have access to it at the beginning of a season.

For example, for Season of the Seraph, the Seraphic Armor Focusing upgrade needs to be unlocked before players have access to high-stat armor focusing. The equipped Ghost mod will also affect the stats rolled here, so equip mods accordingly.

Complete The Weekly Dungeon

Destiny 2 Pit Of Heresy Dungeon On Weekly Rotation

Destiny 2's dungeons have been on a weekly dungeon since 2022. This means that every week, one of the game's dungeons will reward players with Pinnacle gear after completing the boss encounter. Note that all the other encounters do not reward Pinnacle gear—only the final encounter.

The final encounter also rewards players with high-stat armor, so the strategy is to play the dungeon up until the boss checkpoint, switch to a different character to quickly grab that checkpoint, and then kill the boss over and over again in order to farm high-stat armor pieces.

Play Master Raids

Master raids like Master King's Fall, when they are in rotation, will have high-stat armor focused on a specific stat depending on the week. Players can check the focused stat by switching to the Master difficulty in the launch screen, which also details other rewards the activity might grant. Don't forget to adjust the equipped Ghost mod accordingly before loading into the first encounter.

Note that master raids are not immediately available at the beginning of the season, so players desperate for some high-stat armor early on may want to try some of the more accessible methods first. Master raids will also require a bit more preparation in terms of completing them, but the advantage is the chance of having every raid encounter drop high-stat armor.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
