Destiny 2's Season of Plunder came with multiple new activities, weapons to farm, and secrets to uncover over the span of its three-month cycle. The number of things to keep track of in Season of Plunder may be overwhelming to some players, especially due to new seasonal currencies and the Cryptic Quatrains quests.
These are only accessible after gaining more ranks with the seasonal vendor, the Star Chart. This guide explains how to get and complete Cryptic Quatrains 1, 2, and 3 in Destiny 2.
How to Complete Cryptic Quatrains 1
Starting at Rank 7 of the Star Chart, Destiny 2 players will be able to unlock the first of three parts of the Cryptic Quatrains questline. This can be done by simply playing Season of Plunder's activities, with each completion awarding Savvy points to level up the vendor.
Once unlocked, there are a few steps to follow in order to complete the Cryptic Quatrains 1 quest. The first thing to do is to travel to the Moon, specifically to Sorrow's Harbor.
This is where the K1 Revelation Lost Sector is located, not far away from the spawn location in Sorrow's Harbor.
Players will need to enter the Lost Sector and clear it, which can be done on Normal difficulty with no requirements about it being a Legend or Master version.
Once the boss is defeated and Destiny 2 players open the chest at the end, the quest will automatically update to the next step.
For the third step, players will need to head to the Cosmodrome from the Destinations tab and launch the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strike.
Upon completion of the Strike, the Cryptic Quatrains 1 quest will update with the fourth and last step.
Players will need to travel to Europa and go to the Eventide Ruins.
Destiny 2 players should then head over to the north of the spawning location in the Eventide Ruins, and behind an icy cliff will be a buried treasure marked with the same symbol from the Expedition activity in Season of Plunder.
This will conclude the Cryptic Quatrains 1 quest, awarding players with a random weapon or armor piece from Season of Plunder and a quest item called Crude Cipher Fragment.
How to Complete Cryptic Quatrains 2
Like for Cryptic Quatrains 1, Destiny 2 players need to first reach the next major rank for the Star Chart vendor before gaining access to Cryptic Quatrains 2, this time all the way up to rank 10.
Again, the first step for Cryptic Quatrains 2 will be that of completing a Lost Sector. This time, players need to travel to the Dreaming City, specifically to the Divalian Mist checkpoint, and then head to the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector.
Once the Lost Sector is complete, opening the final chest will update the quest to the next step.
Destiny 2 players will have to go to the EDZ from the Destination tab and then select the Lake of Shadows Strike, which has to be completed next.
Once the Lake of Shadows boss is defeated, players will then get to the next part of the quest.
This time, the requirement is to run Expedition from Season of Plunder once, but the caveat is that players have to have a sword equipped for the quest to progress at the end of the activity.
Enemies within the Expedition don't have to be defeated with the sword, though.
When the activity is complete, the Cryptic Quatrains 2 quest will progress to the next step.
Now, Destiny 2 players need to go to Nessus and use the waypoint called The Cistern.
From there, players have to cross the lake of Radiolaria and go inside the cistern by hopping onto the rocks ahead.
Immediately inside the cistern, players will see a marked spot on the ground where they have to investigate. Doing this will update the quest to the next step.
Players will then have to outside the cistern and head northwest from there to the spot where the public event in the area typically starts. There, players will find the buried treasure from Cryptic Quatrains 2.
Collecting the treasure will end the quest, and the rewards are two random items from Season of Plunder's weapons and armor pieces, and another Crude Cipher Fragment.
How to Complete Cryptic Quatrains 3
In order to be eligible to get Cryptic Quatrains 3 from the Star Chart, Destiny 2 players need to reach rank 16 with the vendor, which requires multiple activity completions to do.
The fastest way to do so is to run Season of Plunder's Master Ketchcrash multiple times, as it awards the most progress.
The first step when the quest is active requires players to go to the EDZ and launch the Sunken Isles waypoint. From there, players will have to go to The Quarry Lost Sector and complete it.
When the Lost Sector is complete, the quest will update with a new requirement.
The next step requires players to launch the Exodus Crash Strike on Nessus and complete it in a single life. Dying during the Strike will not grant progress towards the Cryptic Quatrains 3 quest, and players will have to launch the Strike again.
Once this quest step is complete, players can move on to the next task.
This time, players will need to complete the Ketchcrash activity from Season of Plunder while wielding a hand cannon. This step is very similar to that from Cryptic Quatrains 2 with the sword, but with a different weapon archetype.
Like in the step from the previous quest, players won't need to score kills with the hand cannon for the mission to progress. Completing Ketchcrash with the hand cannon equipped will advance the quest.
Next, Destiny 2 players will need to open their Quests tab and check their Captain's Atlas, which is normally used to slot Maps for the Expedition mission.
However, players don't have to slot in a regular map, but rather they have to slot the Crude Ciphers from Cryptic Quatrains 1 and 2.
Doing this will advance the quest to the next step, which also takes place in the Captain's Atlas.
Here, players will have to slot a different Fallen House symbol in each of the three slots available. The order is always the same, and the requirement is to slot House of Dusk first, House of Salvation second, and House of Light third.
Slotting the wrong fragments will get players a mission failed message, and the sequence will have to be restarted.
Placing the correct symbols in each slot will finally advance the quest to the next step.
Destiny 2 players will have to travel to the Cosmodrome using the waypoint at The Steppes. From there, they should travel to the Forgotten Shore via Sparrow, up to the abandoned ship where the Veles Labyrinth Lost Sector's entrance is.
Players don't have to enter the Lost Sector, but rather they have to interact with the symbol on the ship.
From there, players will have to find a specific cave in the same area of the Cosmodrome.
This cave is located towards the entrance of the Forgotten Shore area, just below the big cliff that normally is the starting point for The Disgraced Strike.
The cave will have a buried treasure inside, which players can collect to end the quest.
The reward is a mix of three items from Season of Plunder's weapons and armor pieces, plus an Exotic Sparrow called Charge of Light.
Completing the Cryptic Quatrains 3 quest will also award Destiny 2 players with a seasonal Triumph called Beacon's Guidance.
This is the last Cryptic Quatrains in the game, and resetting the Star Chart's reputation doesn't award more quests to complete.
Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
