Aside from the challenge they present, raids in Destiny 2 are also a great source of loot. Within these six-player activities, players can obtain unique weapons and armor that are found nowhere else in the game. These weapons will often be some of the best ones in the game due to the powerful traits that they can roll with. On top of that and many cosmetic items that can be obtained, players can also get unique Exotics as well.

Exotic weapons always have some sort of unique trait that makes them stand out from any other weapon in the game, and this is especially the case with the Touch of Malice Exotic weapon.

How to Get Touch of Malice

Touch of Malice is a raid Exotic that drops exclusively from the reprised King's Fall raid from Destiny 1. This weapon drops from Oryx, the final encounter in King's Fall. While in Destiny 1 Touch of Malice was obtained through a quest, this is not the case for Destiny 2. Instead, Touch of Malice is a random drop when players defeat Oryx, and it drops on both Normal and Master difficulty.

While originally there was no way to increase the drop rate, that has changed since the release of Season of the Deep. Now players can increase the drop rate permanently by completing a series of challenging Triumphs in King's Fall. The Triumphs that increase the drop rate for Touch of Malice are as follows.

  • The Grass is Always Greener
  • Overzealous
  • Devious Thievery
  • Brand Buster
  • Gaze Amaze
  • Taking Turns
  • Under Construction
  • The Floor is Lava
  • Hands Off
  • Overwhelming Power
  • One True King

Just like with all Exotic weapons, Touch of Malice has a unique series of traits. The final round in the magazine does extra damage, but it deals damage to the player. The final round then regenerates. If players rapidly defeat three targets, they will regain some health. If players are not paying attention, it is possible to accidentally kill themselves with this gun's trait.

In addition to that trait, Touch of Malice also has a trait called Charged With Blight. With this trait, precision hits drain life force from an enemy and grant a charge to the gun. Once the charge is at ten, players can use the alternate fire function to shoot a Taken Captain blight instead of a bullet.

Does Touch of Malice Have a Catalyst?

Two Destiny 2 content creators suggest a player attempting to world's first King's Fall was net limiting.

Just like with the Vex Mythoclast, Touch of Malice has a catalyst. There is a series of puzzles players will need to solve as they go through the encounters in King's Fall. This culminates in going to the basketball court in the raid to dunk orbs. Once the catalyst is obtained and equipped, it gives Touch of Malice the following trait.

  • Rapid Hit: Rapid precision hits provide a temporary increase to reload speed and stability.

Destiny 2 is available now on Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
