In the current Season of Destiny 2, SMGs (Sub Machine Guns) are dominating the primary slot for many players. The Exotic SMG Osteo Striga with the catalyst makes the majority of the Lightfall Legendary Campaign a joke. Even in PvP modes, SMGs are being heavily utilized to great effect.

With the release of Season of Defiance and Lightfall, a brand new SMG has been added to the game as loot for players to chase. This new SMG is wreaking havoc in the Crucible due to the Target Lock perk it can roll with, and it is called Immortal. Here is how Destiny 2 players can get Immortal, the brand-new Strand SMG.

How to Get Immortal

This powerful SMG is a PvP weapon. To be more specific, Immortal can only be obtained in Trials of Osiris. For those unfamiliar with this activity, Trials of Osiris is a high-end PvP activity that only runs on weekends. When active, this mode is available from Friday at 1 PM EST and closes during weekly reset on the next Tuesday (also at 1 PM EST). If Iron Banner is active, Trials of Osiris will not run during those weeks.

While originally Trials of Osiris required players to bring a pre-made Fireteam, that was changed back during Season of the Lost so that more players could partake in this activity. While the goal is to try and complete seven matches without losing any (referred to as going Flawless), players can still earn loot. Rather than getting loot at the end of matches, players will get reputation gains that increase based on the amounts of rounds they have won in Trials of Osiris matches.

Upon ranking up (Guardian 1, Guardian 2, etc), players will be able to claim a Trials of Osiris engram from Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar. When claimed, these engrams will decode into a random piece of armor or a weapon. These will all be items that can only be obtained from Trials of Osiris. If players are lucky, they will get Immortal as a random drop from one of these engrams. Since this requires RNG, this is not the most reliable method for acquring Immortal.

Other Methods for Acquiring Immortal

If Destiny 2 players are having a difficult time getting the weapon to drop, there are several other methods for acquiring it. Upon reaching Rank 10 in Trials of Osiris reputation, players can claim a guaranteed Immortal from Saint-14. The other option is to go flawless and unlock the Lighthouse. At this unique destination, there will be a chest with a weekly rotating Adept weapon. One of these Adept weapons can be Immortal. Going Flawless through random matchmaking is very difficult, so it is recommended to try and go in with a pre-made Fireteam to have a better chance at succeeding.

Destiny 2 is available now on Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
