Destiny 2 players are demanding an update on Gambit, one of the game’s unique yet overlooked game modes. The players voiced their concerns about the future of the game mode as Bungie has basically been radio silent about any changes being made to it.

Gambit was launched during the Forsaken DLC in September 2018. While Destiny 2's gameplay can be primarily categorized into PvP and PvE, Gambit merged the two and became the game’s first PvPvE mode. The 4v4 activity also got an upgraded version called Gambit Prime with Season of the Drifter, but that was vaulted when Beyond Light launched. Despite bringing something new to the game, Gambit still remains one of the most neglected game modes in Destiny 2, and the community has grown upset over Bungie’s lack of updates.

Reddit user RPDC called upon Bungie to provide some sort of update on Gambit. The post pointed out how Gambit is currently only played as a one-time pinnacle activity, especially to prepare for a new raid when a new DLC or season launches, following which there is hardly anyone playing it. The last time Gambit received an update was with the launch of The Witch Queen, when Bungie tweaked the invasion trigger, heavy ammo economy, and Envoy and Primeval health, but these changes failed to attract new players to the game mode.

Gambit originally launched with four maps and got two more in the following seasons. Although, Destiny 2's Beyond Light DLC saw the removal of two maps which brought the overall tally down to four again. It has been four years since a new Gambit map was launched and this has prompted players to question Bungie’s plans for the game mode.

A bigger concern here is Bungie’s silence on the matter, even after the launch of two major expansions. Last year’s tweaking of the game mode proved to be inadequate for many and the community feels that it needs a facelift to improve its player count. Bungie has been actively tweaking Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris mode, where it introduced Zone Capture, Freelance mode, and map rotations when completing a card to make things interesting and challenging for the players. These changes, along with attractive rewards, saw a surge in the number of players attempting to go Flawless.

Many players feel that Destiny 2's Gambit needs to undergo a similar makeover, where its core gameplay is tweaked in a way that changes players’ perspectives towards it. However, before the changes arrive, the community wants Bungie to communicate its plans for the game mode.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
