Bungie has revealed its release plans for Destiny 2’s Fireteam Finder feature, which will also get a beta launch to test the waters. This in-game LFG system for Destiny 2 was originally planned to release with Season 22, but will now be released during Season of the Wish following internal delays.

Destiny 2 offers both PvP and PvE activities that can be done solo but are usually more fun when playing with a group. However, for years, it has been difficult for players to find groups to do such activities with, as fans have been dependent on third-party LFG systems. Destiny 2 has a Guided Games feature for Raids but a majority of the players have never used it. To counter this issue, Bungie has finally revealed its launch plans for the highly-anticipated Fireteam Finder system.

In an official post, Bungie revealed that Destiny 2’s Fireteam Finder will have a Raid Stress Test on November 30, followed by a public beta period sometime in December based on the results of the stress test. The reason Bungie is treading lightly with Fireteam Finder is because it doesn’t want to hamper Destiny 2 Season of the Wish and its new Dungeon’s launch. The post also explains how the group finding feature works, where it lets players create listings for activities, containing specific tags and a message with details regarding the activity. Furthermore, the Fireteam Finder will be accessible via the Roster tab in the Director, and will also have an access point on any activity’s launch screen. After assessing the results of the beta launch, Fireteam Finder will get a full launch in late January 2024.

Recently, Bungie laid off around 100 employees, and reports also suggested that Destiny 2 The Final Shape and Marathon were delayed. To top it off, Destiny 2’s average player count on Steam recently hit an all-time low, which has left the fans concerned about its future.
