For Destiny 2 players, the grind for the Witherhoard Catalyst in the newest season is real. There's finding the quest, grinding out those vault keys, then players have to get a lot of Filthy Lucre.

Filthy Lucre

While Bungie has been talking about how the 2022 expansion Lightfall may change Destiny 2 forever, players are currently trying to knock out the quests for this current season. The Witherhoard catalyst quest chain requires players farm 300 Filthy Lucre to complete, along with grenade launcher kills. Players can earn Filthy Lucre by fighting in strikes in the playlist, through Gambit and Crucible matches, and by participating in Nightfalls. Wins and completions give Guardians even more of these elusive items.

All this farming will certainly give players plenty to do while they wait for the return of Destiny 1 content to Destiny 2. While there's no fast and easy way to get all 300 Filthy Lucre that players will need for the Witherhoard catalyst, there are a few things players can do to speed up the grind.

Specifically, Destiny 2 players that have the Season Pass for Season of Arrivals will unlock Catalyst Enhancement perks at both rank 11 and rank 22 on the Premium track. The first Catalyst doubles players' objective progression and the second triples it, much like past catalyst boosters for the Eriana's Vow and Symmetry.

The Quest List to get the Witherhoard Catalyst

This means that Destiny 2 players that have the season pass and have reached rank 22 should be able to complete the grind for the Filthy Lucre a little faster. Another thing players can do to speed the process along is to only run through Nightfalls that can be completed quickly, like the Lake of Shadows strike. As many Destiny 2 veterans know, it's possible to skip through a ton of the fights in the strike and get to the final boss in less than 10 minutes. Also, Crucible matches fly by when either the Mayhem or Scorched playlists are active because they have relatively short time limits.

Either way, getting through matches or activities quickly is the way to keep the Filthy Lucre rolling in. This will give everyone a lot to do while Guardians wait for the return of the Cosmodrome next season.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
