The shotgun Felwinter's Lie is finally available in Destiny 2, after a couple of tumultuous weeks in the game. And with it, players dove into the story involving Exo-Warlock Felwinter and the Warmind Rasputin.

Felwinter, like every other Risen in Destiny 2, did not know who he was, where and when he was or his purpose at the time of his rebirth. He, understandably, was in a state of shock, confusion, and frustration, doubting the words even his Ghost, Felspring, uttered. My Name is Byf recounts the most important beats in Felwinter's story.

Born into a time of despair on Earth, Felwinter searched for answers, trudging through golden age facilities and libraries. During one of his expeditions, he became (re)acquainted with Rasputin via his brutal Warsat attacks, even though at the time, Felwinter did not know who or what was after him so relentlessly. Determined to uncover the past despite the perils of the Dark Age, Felwinter decided to not stay in one place for long and or trust anyone.

After conversing with another Risen, Felwinter finally learned the being that is after him, the Warmind Rasputin, that was once the backbone of human civilization. Over time, Felwinter discovered more and more Warmind facilities, such as the bunkers players can visit in Season of the Worthy. He pored over countless documents, machinery and code. During one such investigation, Felwinter activated a console by simply laying a hand on it, without going through any authentication. The Exo and his Ghost realized that Felwinter is innately connected with Rasputin.

The Warmind's onslaught persisted through the years which forced Felwinter to establish a fort in a mountain in Old Russia. Felwinter would use this place to better fight back and as a refuge. His mountainous base would later be called Felwinter Peak and a new generation of Guardians would visit the stronghold in the future. A conversation between Felwinter and Felspring confirmed that the Exo had set his eyes on finding SIVA before joining the Iron Lords. This miraculous Golden Age nanotechnology could create anything imaginable. However, he would not locate this tech until he joined the Lords of Iron.

In a newly unearthed Seraph Bunker, Felwinter's Ghost came across a long piece of code. It revealed Rasputin's attempt to access Felwinter, around the time he was resurrected by Felspring. In took Felwinter a long time to take in that he was not only an asset of Rasputin but also his avatar in the real world. The Exo now knew that he had an indeterminate amount of the Golden Age AI's knowledge buried in his head. Fearing the consequences, Felwinter kept his true nature a secret. Felwinter's Lie was that the Exo was part Guardian, part Warmind.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
