  • In addition, Bungie is planning plenty of weapon archetype tweaks as well including a recoil nerf to SMGs and other changes to Auto Rifles in general.

During its weekly community update, Bungie revealed two specific armor pieces which will be getting a nerf inside the Destiny 2 midseason update due to being too hard to counter effectively. Balancing is a major component to Destiny 2 as Bungie typically makes new tweaks every few months, both with seasonal and midseason updates. However, considering the length of time Destiny 2 has been active as well as the constant influx of new weapons and gear, keeping things balanced can become a tough tightrope to walk.

In fact, Season of the Witch brought with it plenty of snadbox related changes when it launched late in August. Most of the available weapon archetypes in Destiny 2 were tweaked or outright reworked, which included changes to exotic armor and weapons as well. Weapon crafting also got a much needed boost, giving players more ways to earn level progress outside of running the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid over and over.

Destiny 2 Adding Foundry Weapon Focusing in Season 23

Bungie outlines its plans for introducing foundry weapon focusing at the Gunsmith and the guns available during Season 23.

Also known as update 7.2.5, the midseason update will have a number of tweaks to armor and weapons, likely changing up the current meta in some capacity. Alongside all the weapon archetype changes, Bungie revealed that it's making adjustments to Antaeus Wards and Young Ahamkara's Spine exotic armor, as these two have become too hard to counter inside Destiny 2 PvP.

destiny 2 slide shield

For the Titan's Antaeus Wards leg armor, Reflective Vents will now only deploy when the player has a full class ability charge available and no longer gives an improved slide. When deactivated, the class ability energy is drained proportional to the amount of damage that was ultimately reflected. The big reason for this adjustment is that Bungie felt the cost was too low for granting the player such a large benefit outside of also being nearly impossible to counter by opposing players. This change makes it more important for players to carefully think about their engagements and when best to use it.

destiny 2 young ahamkara spine

On the other hand, the Hunter's Young Ahamkara's Spine gauntlets are getting Tripmine Grenades with reduced bonus health (100 to 70) and also seeing the 50% bonus damage resistance removed entirely. Grenade energy is also only provided on ability kills rather than damage. This change brings the bonus grenade energy in line with other Solar exotics Athrys’s Embrace and Caliban’s Hand and makes it a little easier to counter the enhanced tripmine grenades with a lower durability.

In terms of quality life updates, Bungie is planning a major one heading into The Final Shape, ultimately removing the Legendary Shards currency from Destiny 2 entirely. While there are still plenty of questions left to answer on how this will ultimately shake up how players purchase new items at vendors, Bungie has started to detail some of its plans with respect to weapon focusing only costing glimmer and engrams.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
