The final challenge for the Root of Nightmares raid in Destiny 2 has been released, and with it comes the new ability to enhance the Adept versions of the featured raid weapons. Whether improving these guns will make them better than their craftable versions remains to be seen.

Since it's a new feature in the game, not all players are clear on how to improve these weapons. This Destiny 2 guide will help players learn and understand how to enhance their Adept raid weapons.

How To Enhance Adept Raid Weapons

Destiny 2-Adept Enhance-Root of Nightmares Raid Weapon

Enhancing The Weapons

Adept Raid weapons can only be enhanced by first acquiring the gun itself by completing a Master raid challenge. With the weapon obtained, the player can open their inventory and select the red node that says "Enhance Weapon," right next to where they would typically Masterwork the gun. Enhancing it will cost 12 Spoils of Conquest, 10,000 Glimmer, 27 Legendary Shards, and 20 Enhancement Cores. This will turn the weapon into a "Crafted" state.

The user must then level it to level 11, at which point they spend more materials upgrading it, such as 1 Ascendant Alloy. After that, the user must level it up once more to level 17, where they will pay another fee of materials such as Glimmer, Legendary Shards, and more to enhance the weapon fully.

Changing Attachments & Perks

With the gun fully enhanced, the player should make their way to the Enclave on Savathun's Throne World, the location where they would typically craft weapons. Players can then swap out the Barrel, Magazine, and Masterwork to whatever they please. However, they cannot change the final two perks of the gun (the ones with good effects like Demolitionist, for example), as these are static and cannot be changed.

If a player wants better perks for their weapon, they must venture back into the Master difficulty of the Root of Nightmares raid and once again complete the specific raid challenge to acquire another copy of the gun with the perks they want. When the weapon is the featured reward for that given week by completing the challenge, they will only have that week to farm the gun before it is swapped for another of the raid weapons, and then they must wait multiple weeks for it to return as the featured reward.

At the time of writing, only the Adept Root of Nightmares raid weapons can be enhanced. It is unclear whether other Adept guns, such as the Trials of Osiris or Nightfall loot, will be enhanced in future seasons. However, it's more than likely that future Adept raid weapons, like the ones from a reprised raid that will be released later this year, will have the possibility to be enhanced.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
