Bungie reveals upcoming changes to Raid and Dungeon difficulty which inadvertently increased after Destiny 2 The Final Shape launched. Fan reception to Destiny 2 has continued to be on the rise since the expansion's launch, with most fans agreeing that this has been some of the best content Bungie has produced in a while. Combined with a campaign that ends the Light and Darkness storyline through a 12-player activity, The Final Shape adds tons of additional content and side missions to complete after the fact, as well.

The Final Shape launched alongside a major update for Destiny 2, bringing about the typical tweaks and changes one would expect at the start of a new season or expansion. As part of the lengthy list of changes, Bungie made substantial tweaks to how difficulty works in Destiny 2, simplifying it into an Enabled and Disabled option based on the activity. Bungie also reworked the difficulty tiers and Power Level caps, adding elemental surges to Raids on a weekly rotation, though for all of these changes, players have noted that these experiences feel tougher than they ever have before. With the help of feedback from fans, Bungie is announcing some upcoming changes to Raids and Dungeons in the near future.

Bungie releases update 8.0.0.4 for Destiny 2, fixing various issues with The Final Shape Campaign, crashes, weapon issues, and more.

In this week's blog post, Bungie has outlined how incoming and outgoing damage scales following The Final Shape and through the newly implemented power cap and surge features. In the past few weeks, players have indicated that dungeons now feel more tedious and less fun, especially when trying to solo them with rotating surge modifiers. Some players attempting Destiny 2's Warlord's Ruin dungeon noted how much more time it takes to get through, while others have spoken out against Ghosts of the Deep, which has become even more challenging than it was previously.

How Destiny 2 Raids and Dungeons are Changing

In response to player concerns, Bungie has announced that it is removing surges from Raids and Dungeons completely in the June 25th update. In addition, additional tuning will be made behind the scenes to ensure players will perform as if they continued to use them, providing a damage bonus by default to all subclass types, including Kinetic. Bungie's goal with this change is to help remove some of the barriers to buildcrafting that appeared after The Final Shape's arrival into Destiny 2, hopefully also making outgoing player damage in dungeons higher overall and reducing the difference in Raids.

While the announced change is already going over well with players, The FInal Shape has introduced a few additional issues that fans are hoping to see fixed soon. For example, the new Destiny 2 auto rifle known as No Hesitation has a bug that prevents it from damaging champions who use barriers, a major problem considering these weapon types should be able to damage them. While players have reported the issue, Bungie has yet to acknowledge it through social media or include it under the Known Issues section of the weekly blog posts. It seems that for now, players will need to find alternative ways to break barrier champions.
