One lucky Destiny 2 player managed to get their hands on the final piece of the puzzle they needed to turn their guardian into the Doom Slayer from the Doom franchise. Fashion in Destiny 2 has always been an aspect of the game that players loved to experiment with, even before the addition of the Appearance Customization system. With the addition of armor transmog, players have consistently been able to step up their game to not only make their guardians look cool but also like characters from other video games.

The customization system first became available to players in the Season of the Splicer through the Tower NPC, Ada-1, who was first introduced in the game’s fifth season - Season of the Forge. Players can complete a limited number of bounties every season to acquire materials to change the look of their armor. Bungie also encourages players to experiment with their Guardians’ look through Fashion Show contests with the chance to earn a unique emblem. With the addition of the highly requested Best Dressed commendation, players can also select other players with the most stylish look to bestow upon them the coveted commendation after activities.

In a post on Destiny Fashion, a subreddit dedicated solely to featuring the various styles of guardians, a user, warden-gundyr, showed how they turned their Titan into the iconic video game character Doom Slayer from the Doom series after acquiring the Conditional Finality shotgun, a rare drop from the Root of Nightmares' raid. While warden-gundyr is open to suggestions on refining the look, they opted for a slimmer build for their guardian based on the Doom 2016 reboot. Warden-gundyr used a variety of pieces from different armor sets, including the controversial exotic leg armor Antaeus Ward. All of the armor pieces use the Iron Banner shader, Iron Fuchsite, to replicate the Doom Slayer’s armor’s distinctive look.

Most users in the thread loved the look; however, many suggested changing the helmet with suggestions ranging from a Witch Queen ritual one to using the Survival of the Strong helmet ornament from the Guardian Games bundle when it is available in Destiny 2's microtransaction shop. While Antaeus Wards may not exactly match the Doom Slayer’s look, warden-gundyr admitted they opted for functionality in PvP while also having a semblance of the look.

Destiny 2 has changed significantly since its launch in 2017, with Bungie adding new features to the game yearly. While most players would love more robust customization options that include changing their guardian’s look, it is safe to say that fashion has become on par with gameplay and the narrative. Players have embraced changing their guardians’ looks to resemble characters from Star Wars and even Megamind, and as a result, the world of Destiny 2 seems more lived in and alive.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
