The Destiny franchise is almost a decade old, and to show its growth over the years, several players have created artistic renditions of Destiny 2's Director screen, combining every location and activity of narrative importance under one banner. The franchise has experienced major positive and negative upheavals in the 10-year-long journey toward The Final Shape. The developers, however, have promised the fans that Destiny 2 will continue to forge new storylines even beyond the upcoming expansion.

Released in 2017, Destiny 2 is the sequel to the original Destiny and continues the narrative threads left unchecked by the first title. Beginning with the Cabal's Red Legion invasion of the Last City and the Traveler's awakening, Destiny 2's current storyline has expanded beyond the Solar system, stretching millions of years into the past, involving myriad alien races beyond humanity. Initially seen as an ominous fleet of pyramid-shaped ships beyond the galaxy, the Witness and their forces of Darkness have since made their presence known, ushering in a system-wide war against the Traveler and the Guardians of Light. The tumultuous battle between Light and Darkness will come to a definite conclusion in the upcoming The Final Shape expansion.

The journey to The Final Shape has been arduous for the franchise. Destiny has played host to many open-world destinations and patrol zones with unique storyline significance throughout its many expansions and two full releases. These locations are represented on the title screen where players can pick and choose their preferred activities, called the Director. Players such as Bulgogibody on Reddit and QuintSays on Twitter have taken their creative liberties and created custom variants of the Director page, showcasing every unique destination players have visited over the years. While QuintSays' rendition is almost three years old and is missing many new locations in Destiny 2, the quality of the work has been appreciated by many in the community.

Bulgogibody's work, however, rests on the controversial sunsetting of Destiny 2's older content, indicating how many locations and activities are missing from the current game. An incredibly unpopular decision within the community, sunsetting removed chunks of old content, such as the Red War campaign, popular seasonal activities, endgame Raids, and all associated loot. Bungie has since walked back on the controversial decision and is currently reintroducing older content with each passing season. Bulgogibody's rendition of the Director page is cramped with icons and images indicating the scale of the removed content, including activities such as The Reckoning and Gambit Prime.

The images also indicate precisely how big the scale of Destiny 2, and the Destiny franchise to an extent, has become in past years and shows no sign of halting despite Lightfall not matching many players' expectations. Considering the scale of The Final Shape and Bungie's vision of the future, the current Director page is likely to grow in tandem.

Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
