The DARCI Sniper Rifle is a useful weapon with a very specific niche in Destiny 2. To put it simply, DARCI is great at taking down stationary targets, like other snipers, but not much else due to a lower damage potential compared to other Sniper Rifles.

Still, some players will enjoy the incredible aim assisting this weapon has and find themselves gravitating towards it in certain situations. When those moments arise, there’s a strong case to be made for having the DARCI Catalyst.

What It Does

Destiny 2 DARCI

The DARCI Catalyst introduces the DARCI weapon with a single benefit:

  • Increase the weapon’s stability by 18

This is a nice perk to have as it caters to DARCI’s overall playstyle. For instance, the main perk, Personal Assistant, provides the player with information on the enemy’s health and other info when the player is aiming at them. Having greater stability makes it easier to keep the crosshairs on the enemy and gather this intel.

It also factors into dealing damage as there is less recoil and better accuracy if the target starts moving. This ensures that more bullets reach their target and improves overall DPS.

How To Find It

Destiny 2 DARCI Mind Of Its Own

The DARCI Catalyst has a chance of dropping whenever the player defeats a non-Guardian enemy in any location. Anything from a base-level Cabal to an ultra-level Scorn has the chance to drop the DARCI Catalyst when killed.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a way to improve the odds of the DARCI Catalyst from appearing. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to ensure the DARCI Catalyst will drop instead of another Catalyst. As a result, players may be in for a bit of grind before it appears.

Upgrading

Once the DARCI Catalyst is obtained, players will want to spend some time upgrading it. To upgrade the DARCI Catalyst you’ll need to defeat 300 enemies of any kind in any location using precision damage with the DARCI.

Given the weapon’s nature, the precision damage shouldn’t be a problem. All the player has to do is find 300 low-level enemies they can pick off with the Sniper Rifle and they should be good to go. It’ll take some time sure, but it shouldn’t be particularly difficult.

To speed things along it’s important to remember that kills are retroactive. Any precision kill obtained with the DARCI prior to obtaining the DARCI Catalyst will count towards the 300. Unfortunately grinding enemy kills with the DARCI sniper rifle would take longer than using the Huckleberry with the Huckleberry Catalyst installed. So there is a tradeoff.

There are also two ways to approach getting the 300 kills. One is to simply load up with the DARCI and find 300 low-level enemies. Another is to take the DARCI along on other activities and organically get the kills. It certainly takes longer but can be more interesting than grinding low levels over and over again. It can also let the player pursue other Catalyst drops like the Deathbringer Catalyst which appears in Strikes.
