The Crossfire Challenge

Destiny 2-Root of Nightmares Second Encounter Arena

For this Destiny 2 challenge, players can only cross to the other side of the arena when activating the jump pad on the opposite side.Usually, a player would shoot the diamond crux, which would trigger the jump pad on their side to send them across to the other. However, someone else must shoot the diamond crux from the opposite side to send someone across.

This applies to each time someone were to cross the chasm, including when proceeding to the upper levels. The challenge will automatically fail for adept players if they try and travel at high speeds via Well-skating or using an Eager's Edge Sword. It sounds easy on paper, but executing it is a different story, given how inconsistent the jump pads can be. So what's the best way to complete the challenge?

There are a couple of ways to go about it. The first would be to leave it all up to the two runners, who will simultaneously communicate to time their crosses. This would leave the remaining four players on enemy control. It's not the "best" way to complete the challenge, but it will ensure the runners have a smoother time getting to each node and not worrying about them dying to enemies.

The second method would be to have two runners as usual, but then have two people on standby to shoot them across the chasm and the remaining two on enemy control. This will ensure the runners don't need perfect timing when trying to cross, and can go at their own speed without worrying about the other runner. However, this method should only be used on the Normal difficulty, as attempting it while on the Master difficulty will be extremely dangerous, as enemies hit harder, and more of them spawn. Thus, the first method mentioned above will be recommended in order to complete the Crossfire challenge.

Master Difficulty Changes

For players attempting to complete the challenge while on Master difficulty of the raid, there is one significant change to be wary of. As expected, more enemies spawn and have higher health pools, making them harder to defeat. However, along with an Anti-Barrier Colossus, on the second and third levels, an Unstoppable Incendior will spawn with it. Players on enemy control should use appropriate weapons to deal with both Champions; otherwise, they will be a terror to get rid of.

After making it to the third level and defeating all enemies, the Crossfire challenge will be completed. Players will be rewarded with the exclusive Adept version of the Acasia's Dejection Trace Rifle.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
