Destiny 2 players are meticulously thorough regarding details, as one intuitive player notices a recent cosmetic change made to several Combat Bows that correspond to a specific perk. Fashion and character customization are an intricate part of Destiny 2's identity, with changes even making it into the occasional patch notes. As a result, the larger Destiny 2 community has come to expect such small attention to detail alongside the usual grand set pieces and action sequences that the game is known for.

Combat Bows are a newer addition to the Destiny franchise, as the weapon archetype made its debut with the Forsaken expansion. The archetype has remained relatively unchanged in its functionality since then, with balance changes and the overarching damage meta shifting its relevancy throughout the expansions and seasonal launches. Post-Lightfall, Combat Bows have seen a rise in popularity, as the recent weapon rebalancing in Destiny 2's Season of Defiance has turned several Bows into suitable contenders for various roles. Exotic Bows such as Leviathan's Breath and Wish-Ender have created new builds as Legendary Bows have regained some usage in PvP and endgame PvE activities with the inclusion of new perks.

Part of Destiny 2's charm is its ability to relay data to players via audiovisual cues, whether it's an ability coming off cooldown indicated by a sound bite or increased movement speed outlined by wind trails blowing past a character. Seemingly, the developers have added similar visual functionality to several Combat Bows too, as noticed by a player named SlayForJay. The player has posted their findings on the Destiny 2 subreddit, comparing two pictures of a Strident Whistle Legendary Bow with the Harmony and Explosive Head perks. In the first picture, the player has selected the Harmony perk with Strident Whistle possessing a typical arrowhead, whereas, in the second picture, the player switches to the Explosive Head perk changing the arrowhead to a much bulkier one, showcasing the explosive charge.

Several players have mentioned in the comment section that the feature isn't particularly new, as cosmetic ornaments have changed the arrowheads in the past, namely, the "Aim Is True" ornament for the No Turning Back Legendary Bow showcasing a similar explosive arrowhead. Veteran players have also reminisced how certain Rifles and Handcannons in the past would also change appearances based on the perk selection, with different sights visually representing the stat changes. A similar feature was introduced with the popular Destiny 2 Exotic Pulse Rifle Revision Zero receiving additional attachments with each unlocked catalyst, indicating the growing power of the weapon.

Such small changes to the accessibility of existing game systems are always welcome, as players reap passive benefits. With Bungie promising more changes to Bows in future patches for Destiny 2, fans of this elegant weapon will undoubtedly have their eyes peeled for such neat details.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
