This year has already claimed a number of games and their intended release dates. Watch Dogs Legion, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel's Avengers, and plenty more were just a few to have their launches shuffled around from their original early 2020 to dates closer to the end of the year instead. While the global pandemic may have had an impact on these decisions with studios working remotely rather than together in the same building, fans can now add Destiny 2: Beyond Light to the growing list to delays.

In a new statement on its website, Bungie announced that Destiny 2: Beyond Light won't be hitting its original launch date of September 22. Instead, the highly anticipated expansion is now launching on November 10, placing it in range of major AAA titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077.

The main reason for the delay is due to the challenging circumstances currently facing not only Bungie but the world. With the pandemic still in full effect, the team has had to learn to create remotely and work together at a distance. In order to hit the lofty goals the studio has in place for Beyond Light, the expansion needs a bit more time in the oven.

For Bungie, Beyond Light isn't just an expansion but the start of a new era for the franchise. The post hints at a powerful story and incredible new features that the studio is creating for players. The delay should give the studio enough time to ensure that these new systems are ready to go when the already large player base gets their hands on it. With a rash of bugs and glitches that have appeared over the past two seasons, Bungie is aiming to ensure that the upcoming content is as solid as possible.

Thankfully, Bungie is planning to unveil more details regarding Beyond Light and how the delay also impacts the current Season of Arrivals, which is now extended through November 10 as well. As players continue to see more of a presence from the Darkness, Beyond Light is preparing to take players to the moon Europa to confront the enemy directly in addition to a new Fallen faction led by its leader, Eramis. A new element type known of Stasis is also preparing to shake things up not only with weapon damage but giving players access to new abilities.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
