Highlights

  • Titans in Destiny 2 can be hit-or-miss, but they still have the potential to be a real force on the battlefield.
  • The Behemoth subclass is weak and lacks practical use, with clunky abilities and low damage.
  • The Sunbreaker subclass is one of the most durable and can deal high damage with Throwing Hammers and Sunspots.

Titans have always been pretty hit-or-miss in Destiny 2. The subclasses are either incredibly powerful or remarkably weak after facing heavy nerfs. Thankfully, Titans still have a few tricks up their sleeves and can maul foes with the right build. While Titans may fall short in a few areas, they definitely shouldn't be counted out and can be a real force on the battlefield in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Best Raid Exotics, Ranked

Destiny 2's best exotics come through as rewards within their challenging raids.

It can be easy for a new player to become overwhelmed by the number of options Titans have, especially when keeping track of certain buffs. Yet, in ranking the five subclasses, players might be able to see some unique strengths and weaknesses that help them pick their favorite Titan subclass.

5 Behemoth

A Weak Option That Provides Very Little Value

destiny 2 behemoth titan
  • There is some niche potential with Glacial Quake heavy attacks
  • Freezing enemies can be effective crowd control
  • Very fast subclass, especially with Cryoclasm

Following the sad trend of the other Stasis subclasses, Behemoth is a subclass most Titans will opt to ignore. While there are certain exotics that Stasis Titans can utilize in battle, they aren't potent enough to warrant picking this subclass over something else. The subclass lacks good survivability options, and its abilities are too low-damage to warrant practical use. Behemoth also doesn't have any good Aspects, with the best being Diamond Lance (which is incredibly weak in its own right).

Players may also feel that the subclass feels 'clunky'. The melee is not good to use, and the Super doesn't feel satisfying. While there is some niche use in spamming Stasis Crystals with the heavy attack, players will be better off using any other damage strategy as they are much simpler and, usually, much better.

4 Striker

A Former Heavyweight Now Outclassed

destiny-2-arc-titan-build-guide1
  • Good damage Super in Thundercrash when combined with Cuirass of the Falling Star
  • Fun to use
  • Synergizes brilliantly with Heart of Inmost Light

Arc Titan was formerly the strongest Titan subclass, especially with builds using Heart of Inmost Light. While those builds are definitely still possible, they aren't the top dog anymore, as other subclasses have overtaken it in strength. The main issue with Arc is the subclass's lack of survivability, especially in endgame content. Blinding enemies with a subclass trait is not consistent compared to other methods.

With Destiny 2 approaching the end of the Lightfall era, which weapons should players craft as soon as possible?

Striker does have some things going for it, though. Cuirass of the Falling Star is a solid exotic and can be used well during a damage phase, and the subclass is generally quite fun as Arc 3.0 has some enjoyable quirks, like Amplified, ensuring players are always quick and electrified.

3 Sentinel

The Main Supportive Titan Class Is Pretty Average

A Void subclass Titan throws a shield at a Cabal trooper in Destiny 2.
  • Can fill a supporting role in a team
  • Decent add-clear thanks to Volatile explosions
  • Good synergy with Void 3.0 verbs.

Void 3.0 has been out for quite some time now, and Void Titans have been consistently 'decent' since release. With options like Bastion and Controlled Demolition, Titans can lean into a supportive playstyle with the right build. Healing from Controlled Demolition and constant overshields with Bastion make Sentinel a very defensive subclass, and no one will be sad to see one on their fireteam in challenging content.

Where Sentinel is let down is in its damage potential and Supers. While Ward of Dawn is just alright, and is functionally useless as it provides the same damage buff as Well of Radiance, which is a much better Super. Sentinel Shield is also one of the weaker roaming Supers in the game, meaning its damage potential and boss fighting is relatively poor compared to the competition. However, Sentinel can be used with great success inside puzzle encounters in Raids or high-level Nightfalls.

2 Sunbreaker

One Of The Most Durable Subclasses In The Entire Game

destiny 2 solar titan sun backdrop
  • Remarkably survivable thanks to Restoration healing
  • High damage from Throwing Hammers with Roaring Flames
  • Incredible Super with Pyrogale and Burning Maul stacked with Roaring Flames

Ever since Solar 3.0's release, it has been a rather problematic element thanks to its various buffs that can be provided to a character. Titans are no exception from this and are perhaps able to take advantage of it the most. With the Throwing Hammer melee option and Sol Invictus, Titans can constantly create Sunspots, meaning they will have Restoration active, granting them a continuous source of healing.

To stack damage even further, Titans can run Roaring Flames and Synthoceps to make their mini Throwing Hammer deal remarkable damage, allowing them to take out major enemies in just a few throws. Sunbreakers can also use the Pyrogale Gauntlets to enhance Burning Maul, making it a top-tier damage option.

1 Berserker

Tangle Up The Competition & Delete The Hordes

Destiny 2 Strand Titan-1
  • Incredibly high damage potential
  • Remarkable crowd control with Suspend
  • Good survivability thanks to Woven Mail

Ever since the release of Lightfall, Titans have enjoyed Strand's powerful delights, be it through using a powerful Banner of War build to mow down foes with melees or Suspending foes for days with Abyeant Leap. Both of these builds bring something unique to the table, and players can adapt their playstyle to the demands of the encounter. If a fight calls for high damage or add-clear, players can always count on a Berserker.

Berserkers can be enhanced even further with a few additional weapons, like using The Navigator and its catalyst to create a Strand Grapple point from which to swing and deal outrageous damage from. Overall, Berserkers are incredibly powerful right now, and Titans should look to have fun with this subclass while it's still hot.
