As Bungie heads into the homestretch of year 5 for Destiny 2, it appears the studio is looking to help ease-of-access for some players with a new update bringing changes to armor mods, weapon focusing costs, and Grandmaster Nightfalls. The final season of content before the launch of Lightfall has seen Bungie tease some of the sandbox and quality-of-life changes set to come with the expansion, many of which the game's community has been waiting to see for a long time. The studio doesn't seem content on waiting for the final weeks of the season, though, and is getting a head start only two weeks into 2023.Season of the Seraph is the current season of content in Destiny 2 and the final season before the launch of its next major expansion, Lightfall, on February 28, 2023. The season sees Guardians work alongside Ana, Elsie, and Clovis Bray, Osiris, and Mara Sov in an effort to repair and reawaken the Warmind Rasputin to join their fight against The Witness. However, The Witness' forces are also keen on claiming Rasputin's massive armory and treasure trove of secrets for themselves to turn against The Last City and its allies.RELATED: Destiny 2 Former Community Manager Says Harassment from Player Is InevitableAs of this writing, the season is reaching its halfway point and Bungie is making some notable quality-of-life changes with the intent of making activity and gear access easier for players. The first change listed in a thread from the game's official Twitter will see all standard armor mods unlocked for players to dive further into buildcrafting, which the post says is to get players ready for the loadout changes coming in Lightfall. Bungie elaborated further in response to comments, saying seasonal and endgame armor mods will not be affected.

The next change listed will be reducing the legendary shard cost to focus gear from the Crucible, Gambit, Trials of Osiris, and Iron Banner vendors. Finally, Bungie will be making changes to the "power cap and structure" for Grandmaster Nightfalls to make the activity "more approachable for all players" without sacrificing its challenge. The thread concludes saying additional details on these changes will be available in the TWAB post scheduled for January 12, 2023.

Given the release of Lightfall is now less than two months away, it won't be surprising if these are the first of many changes Bungie rolls out as part of its preparation for the expansion. Lightfall is set to bring with it many changes and additions the community has long been asking for including in-game options to build and save loadouts, an in-game LFG fireteam finder, and refinement to weapon crafting on top of all the new location of Neomuna and Strand subclass. Only time will tell what additional changes Bungie rolls out over the next several weeks and what they could entail.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
