Destiny 2 fans have been treated with highly anticipated Beyond Light news lately. Alongside the new Stasis subclass reveals, the latest weekly article by Bungie details how the rewards for the game's core playlist activities will be changing with the new expansion.

Beyond Light doesn't come out until November 10, but the studio has made it clear that it will steadily provide information about the upcoming expansion until its release. Among many of the other wide-ranging updates, Destiny 2 will see its core activities changed drastically. Game Director Luke Smith had given a heads up on this earlier in the year.

After Beyond Light, players can expect brand new armor sets for all classes to be created every year going forward. Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit activity rewards will share this armor set's model. However, shaders and decal patterns on the armor will be unique to each activity (for instance, Gambit's version will have its trademark snakes stamped across it).

Players can earn pieces of these armor sets by completing the said core playlist activities, or by ranking up their respective vendors. High stat rolls of the armor can be earned by completing the weekly challenges, which are also getting an update. This change will give the more casual or solo fans a way to put together a high stat gear set.

It might not be groundbreaking news, but having a vendor refresh every year is what many in the player base have been asking for, and it seems like Bungie is committed to the idea. While it is a bit unfortunate that playlists won't have wholly unique armor sets, the decals can allow for some personal expression. The other side of the coin is that fans who like the base armor set's look can play whichever core activity they like to earn it.

Similarly, in season 12, players will be able to play Strikes, Crucible, or Gambit to acquire the seasonal pursuit weapon. The gun will be the same, but players will be given the option to complete Gambit, Crucible, or Strike objectives to acquire it. This weapon will not be a pinnacle weapon with unique perks but will have a powerful static roll that features four traits players can choose from.

Like the new armor sets, fans will be able to earn activity-specific and themed ornaments for the base model of the pursuit weapon. Zavala will offer the Vanguard ornament's quest, while Shaxx and Drifter will provide the Crucible and Gambit ornaments respectively.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available on November 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A PS5 version is also in development.
